SILO (School Infrastructure Local Option) is a local one-cent sales and service tax that provides Scott County school districts a revenue-producing alternative to property taxes for infrastructure and technology needs. The Median Real Estate sale price rose over 20% for the Davenport, Iowa/Quad Cities area!
 
In the third quarter of 2006, the median home sales price for the Davenport, Iowa/Quad Cities area was $111,500.  With numbers just in from the third quarter of 2007, the Davenport, Iowa/Quad Cities area recorded a median home sales price of $114,600.  This increase represents a 2.8% increase in the past year in spite of a slow market!  The statistic that is even more spectacular is a whopping 21.8% increase in the past six years!!!  You may read the entire article in the Des Moines Register.

Davenport, Iowa was recently confirmed as a GREAT PLACE by the Governor of the state of Iowa, Chet Culver!
Our biggest asset, the Mississippi River, was instrumental in playing a part of this recognition as we all work together to improve our Riverfront, LeClaire Park, and Centennial Park shown above and below.
This means that Davenport, Iowa will receive state grant money to help with the continuation of improvements!

This home is just being completed in Northwest Davenport, Iowa by a great group of youth from the Davenport and North Scott Schools.  There was a very nice reception May 23 for these students and their families where $10,000 of scholarships were handed out!
This program was started in 1974 and students have built about 20 homes over the years!  The Greater Davenport Board of Realtors(R) continues to be a proud sponsor of this event and welcomes all volunteers to get involved by calling the Program Coordinator at (563) 386-6030.

davenport: Davenport Iowa Governmental Structure - 05/06/07 03:32 PM
The city of Davenport, Iowa has a strong City Administrator/Weak Mayor form of government.  She has eight aldermen and two aldermen-at-large.  The eight aldermen represent each of the eight wards in the city while the at-large positions represent the entire city.  Each aldermen have one vote and the Mayor only votes to break a tie.  Their has been talk recently of possibly changing the structure to one with a Strong Mayor.  The elections this fall, on November 6, may shed some light as to how the citizens would like to see the future directed.  The applications for the elected posts are being taken … (2 comments)

   We've been "jazzing it up" lately in the Davenport Outing Club Ballroom!        
         
   March 8th, the meeting was held in reverse order to accommodate The Terrance Blanchard Quintet due to a scheduling conflict requiring that they be in Muscatine, Iowa by 1:30.  They presented an entertaining concert starting at noon and finishing in time to leave by 12:45.  We had numerous guests attending this annual event of our club.
             
   The quintet was led by Terrance Blanchard on trumpet, with Pablo Sans on piano, Derrick Hodge on Bass, Kendrick Scott on drums and Bruce Winston on sax.  The quintet was in the … (2 comments)
