maui: Wailuku County Morgue - 02/21/08 10:15 AM
WAILUKU — The County Council Policy Committee on Tuesday recommended authorizing the purchase of a site for a county morgue. The county has already budgeted $2.9 million to buy the 8,324-square-foot, two-story Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii building on Wili Pa Loop, with additional funds available for renovations. The county’s existing morgue is a small, cramped facility housed at Maui Memorial Medical Center. “We outgrew it a lotta years ago,” said Maui Police Chief Thomas Phillips. Council members rejected former Mayor Alan Arakawa’s request for $4 million for the morgue project in 2006 but approved it when Mayor Charmaine Tavares made the … (2 comments)

maui: supperferry protest - 12/16/07 07:24 AM
December 15th 2007 9:00 am; yesterday I was  on floor duty and the Superferry protestors were in full occupation of our property. Century 21 did not give them permission to be on the property and has no alliance what so ever with the superferry. Neither pro or anti. We remain neutral. My personal opinion belongs to me and not to the public. This is why there is voting process. Anyhow I did get to hand out over 50 business cards and snap a few photos. Most people smiled and had something cute to say. A few were disgruntled. Here's what I saw, about … (2 comments)

Nested condominiums have been used on the Mainland in large, mixed-use urban projects, where residential units and commercial units are managed by separate associations, said Kahului attorney Rick Kiefer, who presented the A&B plan to the state Real Estate Commission in October. No other projects in Hawaii, to date, have proposed using nested condominiums, said Cynthia Yee, the commission's condominium specialist. … (0 comments)
