The stage is set for sports biggest show, the Super Bowl.
As expected, the New England Patriots have skipped into Arizona with an 18-0 record; the first of its kind. Unexpectedly, the New York Giants have made their way to the desert to attempt to thwart them on their path for perfection.
 
The Patriots will be heavy favorites to win the game as the opening line favors them by 12.5 points.
Prior to week 17 match-up between the Super Bowl combatants, I made a grave mistake in repeatedly saying, "The Giants MUST rest their players and prepare themselves for Tampa Bay." Well- they didn't, … (18 comments)

football: Cheer on the Coalers - 11/11/07 02:09 PM
Saturday, November 17th the Coal City Coalers football squad (and most of the town) will be heading north to take on the Driscoll Catholic Highlanders of Addison in semi-final action. This marks the 3rd time in 4 years that the Coalers have gone to at least the final four! 
 
Unfortunately, the last time Coal City ventured to the semi-finals they fell to none other than Driscoll.
Driscoll, a private school with the ability to recruit players from outside 'normal' boundaries has won SIX consecutive state championships. The Coalers will have to give it their all and not be intimidated by the "big … (1 comments)

football: Way to GO BLUE - 09/01/07 04:11 PM
Since childhood, back in the days when  Jamie Morris and current Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh were suiting up for the Michigan Wolverines, I was sucked in despite living in the 'burbs of Chicago. Became a fan and have stayed that way for the next couple of decades, albeit not as rabid since I went to a different learning institution of higher education.
                                                       
Today, something utterly shocking occured. Michigan lost its season opener to Appalachain St. 34-32!!??!!
