It's really important for all Palmetto Bay Residents to get out and vote for the mayor of their choice on Tuesday Nov. 16th. It's predicted that only 5% of voter's will actually go out and vote in a run-off! This is a dismal view of our society.

palmetto bay community: Organic Gardening in Palmetto Bay Starts up Again! - 10/11/10 01:04 PM
Fall in Palmetto Bay
Fall has arrived in Palmetto Bay, Florida. I know this sounds ridiculous to anyone living above Jacksonville, Florida, but here in South Florida, the humidity has fallen below 50% and it feels downright cool here.
There is dew on the grass in the morning, and it is cooler sipping coffee on my patio than in my now stuffy feeling kitchen.
My husband and I finished preparing our organic vegetable garden beds this weekend, and so I really know that winter is on the way. For those of you from up North, we garden in the WINTER! Yes, while you … (0 comments)

palmetto bay community: Dog Park in Pinecrest, Florida - 09/02/10 03:16 AM
It's looking very good that The Village of Pinecrest will finally have a dog park. The Village of Palmetto Bay, a much younger municipality, has had a dog park for a couple of years now and it's a big draw for families with their kids and dogs. It's only appropieate that the residents of Pinecrest have one too.
On Sept. 14th, the Village Council will have its last meeting to discuss the issue. The park would be located at Veterans Wayside Park on US 1. I think it's a perfect location for a dog park.
Presently it's a park that is rarely visited. I … (1 comments)

palmetto bay community: Why I believe Homeownership is still alive in Palmetto Bay and Pinecrest, Florida - 09/01/10 02:15 AM
The cover of this month's Time Magazine reads "Rethinking Homeownership".  It goes on and on about foreclosures, walkaways, neighborhoods plagued by abandoned properties and its economic woes. I know that there is doom and gloom all over. The housing market isn't recovering anytime soon.  It so much worse than any of us could have imagined, yet I still believe in homeownership.
Although the article speaks truths about what has happened to homeownership in the past few years, I still truly believe that owning a home is so much better than renting one.  I love my house that we bought in Palmetto … (0 comments)

palmetto bay community: Organic Garden in Palmetto Bay, Florida - 12/31/09 01:40 AM
Organic Garden in Palmetto Bay, Florida   Last night I watched the movie, Food, Inc.  It was a disturbing movie to watch but extremely enlightening,  important and necessary. Think about it...  How much do we know about the food we buy at our local supermarket (if it's not a Whole Foods) and that we feed to our families everyday?  Read further below for a synopsis of the movie.
I have been thinking about what we eat for quite awhile now. I try to buy local foods, shop at farmer's market and buy foods in season. I only shop at Whole Foods, which has a … (0 comments)
