nar: RPAC is just not working for me, it's just a giant wallet .... - 02/05/21 08:47 AM

RPAC is just not working for me, it's just a giant wallet giving out money without quantitative results. Worse yet, it's the right hand of the slippery brother named NAR. Every year about this time I get incensed when I hear how much these guys dole out 'on our behalf' for things that we don't know or care about.  Please read the entire article from Chicago Agent Magazine below but I did want to highlight my thoughts & objections on what info the article included.
Has an agent ever been asked by a board member what RPAC should spend money on? … (11 comments)

nar: NAR - Our Captain speaks & he tries to steer a ship already on the rocks - 10/03/14 02:23 AM

Finished reading our monthly note from NAR President, Steve Brown in the Sept./Oct. issue of Realtor Magazine. Did you get a chance to read it?
If you did it will reinforce your belief that our 'captain' doesn't know he's got a ship to steer. In other words, I've been vindicated that he is also out of touch with membership.
I've read a mild apology that NAR might not have been 'quite in touch' with it's members as it's tried to help all members improve their sales in the last few years. Really?
Another contrite mention how NAR might have tried to handle … (27 comments)

nar: NAR - Our leadership is driving us off a cliff! - 05/20/13 12:12 AM
NAR - Our Leadership is driving us off a cliff!
Recently Inman News has been doing some good informative posts that are flying under the radar with many Realtors®.  We really NEED to start paying attention to what NAR is doing and speak our piece - whichever way you feel on some of these topics.  Do not let NAR drive the bus off a cliff!
There are a few topics that I am going to roll into one here - one post mentions that NAR asked membership (anyone you know of participate???) on what's the craziest idea that you think would work?  The … (11 comments)

nar: Hey NAR, what have you done for me lately? - 05/29/12 07:02 AM
Boy has NAR been busy!  Have you been following all the headlines?

Well I feel like TMZ dishin' all the latest Realtor® newzzzzzz!  I feel like our organization has been very busy lately spending our money. Here's the scoop:

1)  Announcement that NAR now owns Sentrilock.  Yes it seems that they now own a majority stock in that company.  I'm not sure why we have to own a lockbox company.

2)  Announcement that NAR has a merger/acquisition with a Credit Union in Chicago.  It's now called the Realtors Credit Union.  Did you get the email on that?  Visa … (59 comments)

nar: Sentrilock, the Techno Dinosaur - 05/24/12 01:21 AM
Well wha'da ya know .... only 5 months later we get the exciting news! Didn't you know?  I didn't hear it on TMZ either so let me tell you.  NAR now owns Sentrilock 100%.  Didn't know that huh?  I bet you and about 1 million other NAR members were kept in the dark. Why do we have to own anything like a lockbox company?  I'm not sure why we find that ownership, other than control, can be a good idea.  And since there are only 2 options available to real estate agents across the country it's like choosing between the left … (7 comments)

nar: Can We Really Trust The National Association of Realtors When They Revise Their Home Sales Figures? - 12/19/11 02:41 AM
Well here's a great post about the current National Associaton of Realtors fiasco and their 'broken calculators'. This is really an embarassment for us as an industry.
Here's another post about the same situation in Wisconsin & how closings are reported there.
My thanks to Joe Manausa in Florida & Eric Kodner in Wisconsin.
Please contact me for ACCURATE DATA in the Schaumburg IL area!

Late Tuesday after, CNBC reported that the National Association Of Realtors released a statement acknowledging that their home sales reports have been OVER-COUNTED since January of 2007. That means everybody who relies on REALTOR reports for … (12 comments)

nar: NAR has an obvious 'Broken Calculator' & what do they really do for us? - 12/15/11 06:27 AM
Think Big Work Small's video today makes a comment about NAR and their recently discovered broken calculator problems. The boys bring up a good point about what NAR is really doing for it's membership. We've got the stupid redesigned & retrofitted 'O'Bama Bus' that is cruising around the country but no one is really helping us sell more homes are they?

Also a good segment for loan officers in this video also.

nar: Did NAR defeat QRM or did they actually help it? - 06/10/11 03:44 AM

Well, another post about who (or whom?) NAR is working for with their agenda. Wonder how much this lobbying efffort has cost it's members not that I (we) will ever seen a written account of the dollars spent.
I restate my opinion on what is currently happening in our real estate world.  It's not a real estate crisis but a 'lending crisis'.  Unfortunately housing and lending go hand in hand.  You obviously can't have one without the other as no one has cash anymore.  It is no longer that type of world.
When reading previous stories on the QRM I felt … (5 comments)

nar: Dumbing it Down... to 10 Cups of Coffee - 05/17/11 10:26 AM

I am nausous.  I am mad about the dumbing down of my fellow NAR membership.  Melinda Peterson can tell you what I consider the bad news.  I will begin now to see how I will no longer retain membership in NAR.  That's how strongly I feel about my representation from NAR or lack their of.
J. Philip Faranda wrote an excellent post the other day about the value of continuing education in our profession.  It's good for us (whether we like it or not) but it's also better for consumers.  You should always want to be at the top of … (5 comments)

nar: National Assoc. of Realtors Town Hall Meeting Rebuttal - 04/15/11 03:18 AM
National Assoc. of Realtors Town Hall Meeting Rebuttal Town Hall Meeting Replay Here    You will be asked to sign in and the program is 1.5 hours long. Please speak your opinions here (towards bottom). The meeting began with reading a portion of our Code of Ethics.  What does our Code of Ethics have to do with real estate ownership?  The actual ownership of property?  Nothing in my opinion.  What it does is directs our actions towards buyers, sellers or anyone we work with on a daily basis.  What it is not is a constitutional right to home ownership.  Even though we rally loudly for … (37 comments)

nar: NAR says 'Come closer Little Red Riding Hood!' - 03/25/11 04:49 AM
Recently there has been some discussion about our beloved NAR.  Tom Branch wrote a post saying he was happy to keep the wolves from our collective door and welcome an increase for our dues.  Then Inman News posted a great piece about where our dues are actually going.  I'm afraid that Tom is sadly incorrect - NAR is the wolf in sheeps clothing here!I also posted about the NAR Bus tour gulping down our proverbial dollars like a NASCAR sucks gas!  I'd like to post WHERE our dollars are going and the fact that if we don't start paying attention and opening … (19 comments)

nar: What NAR could be spending 'our' money on! - 03/07/11 05:26 AM
What NAR could spend 'our' money on! This is a follow up to the post I did about the wasteful NAR Homeownership Matters Bus Campaign that will now be touring the U.S.  On 60 Minutes yesterday there was a piece that really hit me in the heart. Homeless kids by the dozens are now being picked up and bussed to school everyday from the seedy pay by the day motels they live in.  It's really sad that these kids have to go through this because of the economic downturn in Florida.  It doesn't really matter what state it's in - this … (12 comments)

nar: NAR has lost their mind with the 'Home Ownership Matters' Bus Tour - 03/03/11 03:25 AM
NAR has lost their mind with the 'Home Ownership Matters' Bus Tour Have any of you noticed this?  I think this is a terrible waste of our dues and energy with a 'bus tour' of 3 different areas for March.  They were beating the drums for all of us to come down to Navy Pier to see this version of an X-campaign bus (probably from the O'Bama presidential run - we got it at a huge discount?)  NAR can 'hit the road' alright with this wasteful campaign.
NAR Hits the Road"In March 2011, the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® leadership team will … (79 comments)
