Setting Business Goals - Even My Girl Scouts Do It

So, pictured above are my two Girl Scouts. My daughter is 9 years old and she's a Girl Scout Brownie. My niece is 17 and she's a Girl Scout Senior and Ambassador. Sarai has only been in the Girl Scouts for 2 years. Arshawna has been in the Girl Scouts for 13 years. Although they are wildly different in age, they both have one big thing in common. They love being Girl Scouts and have set very specific goals that they plan to accomplish as part of their experience.

FAQ: How to Decide What Tasks Turn Over to a Virtual Assistant
I had a great conversatin with a prospective client recently which made me really think about this: what do prospective clients want to know about working with a Virtual Assistant? My first FAQ post for 2014 was about How to Work with a Virtual Assistant. Here is my next FAQ: How to Decide What Tasks to Turn Over a Virtual Assistant!
If you are like a rising number of real estate professionals, you find yourself in a position where you may be ready to move forward working with a Virtual … (1 comments)

grow your business: Surefire Methods to FAIL at Real Estate - 01/17/09 04:08 AM
I've read lots of blog posts just this week giving all kinds of great tips on how to make it as a real estate agent.  Clint Miller of Real Estate Client Referrals even wrote a great one giving you a list of Mistakes Not to Make.  Well, you know what to do to succeed in real estate.  So in this post, I thought I'd focus on those of you who may want out but aren't quite sure how to go about doing that.
If you want to fail at real estate, here are some quick and easy ways to do it.

grow your business: Different Strokes for Different Folks - 12/22/08 07:52 AM
I read a blog where someone really didn't "get" blogging - Why Blog by Mike Butson.  After someone made a comment on my post about not seeing any value for getting business on Twitter, I started thinking about how we feel about the marketing methods we choose to utilize to grow our respective businesses.
One thing I realized was that everything isn't for everybody.  Not everyone will "get" blogging.  Not everyone will get Facebook, or LinkedIn or Twitter.  Some will not get any form of online networking and marketing.
We all need to realize that there will be different strokes for different … (6 comments)

grow your business: Are You Marketing On ApSense? - 09/08/08 05:21 AM
Hi everybody!
This weekend, while surfing the net for social networking sites to set up profiles on for a client, I came across a site called ApSense.  Have you heard of it?  Well, I hadn't before now but I'm really excited now that I've stumbled upon it!  The most exciting thing I saw was that it was virtually untapped by the real estate community - no VA's, just a handful of agents, no stagers, no financial lenders!!  Let me tell you a little about the site...
You set up a profile and put as much information in your "Business Center" as you'd like … (9 comments)

grow your business: Why Do You Charge So Much? - 09/02/08 08:58 AM
OR I Can Get An On-site Assistant for $10 Per Hour! What The Heck?
I have propects contacting me on a weekly basis...at least 3-4 per week.  Most of these "prospects" aren't really prospects.  You know what I mean - they are just like real estate "looky-loos;" those people who aren't really serious about making a move, they're just looking to see what's out there.  Well, as a Virtual Assistant my "looky-loos" are pretty much the same thing - tire kickers.  They aren't really ready to utilize a VA, they're just "gathering information."
One of the biggest stall factors I've found … (7 comments)

grow your business: Who Needs A "Mommy's Helper??" Me! Me! Me! Me! Meeeeee! - 08/19/08 07:38 AM
Ok, the time has come where I'm recovered enough (???) from having my delicious twins (yes, I bite them often (but not hard) because their cheeks are so puffy and they taste soooo good!) that I'm ready to kick it up into high gear.  You see our goal is for my husband to quit his quite lucrative job with Sprint to work for me as my tech support go-to guy. In order to do that, I need to pick up at least 5 more clients.  In order to do that, I can't keep going "business as usual."
I need a Mommy's Helper.

grow your business: The Hidden Thing About Blogging - 05/07/08 04:23 AM
Let's face it...we all started blogging for business reasons. Maybe it was to build name recognition, to get the word out about our business, or to pick up new clients. And these are all perfectly good reasons to blog! In the last few months though, I've started noticing something else when reading other people's blogs as well as comments on my own blog posts. The blog posts are becoming subtly inspirational. The comments are becoming encouraging. Not intentionally, over-the-top, cram-it-down-your-throat inspirational. The funny thing about these posts is that most of the writers were not trying to be inspirational. It happened … (9 comments)

grow your business: The Best of Both Worlds - 03/21/08 10:00 AM
Have you ever noticed just how convincing children can be?  When they want something, they can convince a whole world of strangers that they deserve to have it.  I know.  I've got 4 children with twins on the way in about 1 week.  The 3 oldest are really good at "pleeeeeeeeaaase."  After 13 years at this though, I must say that I'm somewhat immune to that word for the most part - and the puppy dog eyes, tears, tantrums, and all the rest. However when it comes to clients, I find that I can be such a sucker.  I don't say that in a bad way, especially since … (13 comments)

grow your business: Is It Truly "Unprofessional"? - 02/17/08 10:10 AM
I came across a blog today where the agent was wondering about taking her child with her to an open house.  Some comments were made about how taking a child to work was "unprofessional."  That got me to thinking.  (And I really hope this doesn't turn into a controversial subject.)  Why is it that mothers are perceived as unprofessional when they put the welfare of their children ahead of anything else?  I guess that would be my primary question.
Most of us became entrepreneurs (Virtual Assistants, Real Estate Agents, Stagers, etc.) because we wanted and/or needed the flexibility to care for our children.  … (13 comments)
