This weekend I took our four children out 22 km from Summerland along the Princeton – Summerland Road and camped along Trout Creek.

Sgt. Mona Kauffeld of the Summerland RCMP detachment shows the fingerprinting area in the police station. The cells surrounding the fingerprint area have been condemned and the building, converted to a police facility in 1975, has not seen significant renovation work done in many years. A half marathon held in Summerland in early August has been renamed to pay tribute to a legendary runner.
The Summerland Centennial Half Marathon was renamed the Willis Greenaway Half - Run To Beat Alzheimer's.
Greenaway, who died of Alzheimer's in 2008, was a long-time Summerlander who held numerous national age category running records.
In 2003, at the age of 81, he ran four marathons in 12 months.
Ron Sherk, director of the race, said it is fitting to name the race after Greenaway.

There will be fewer sold signs on real estate than previously anticipated in Metro Vancouver and across B.C., according to a new forecast. (CBC) New figures show the real estate market is cooling off across Canada, including the previously hot markets in B.C. and Metro Vancouver.
A Canadian Real Estate Association survey released Wednesday says sales are lower than expected, and predicts prices will remain flat for the rest of 2010.
"Today, home sales are down more than 30 per cent from that very high [winter] level," said Cameron Muir, an economist with the B.C. Real Estate Association.
