council of residential specialists: What Does it Mean to be Published in a Nationwide Real Estate Magazine - 04/18/16 08:56 AM
What Does it Mean to be Published in a Nationwide Real Estate Magazine?

Since 2009, I've been fortunate enough to be published (or interviewed) a total of seven times in various nationwide real estate publications. That list of publications included Realtor Magazine, the NAR "Legislative Live Blog", The Wall Street Journal  and The Residential Specialist Magazine  (published by the Council of Residential Specialists).

The first of these published interviews took place in 2009 and 2010, with two interviews by Regina Ludes for The Residential Specialist Magazine, one entitled "Letter Perfect" and the second entitled "State of the Markets" (about the Minneapolis & Saint Paul … (12 comments)

council of residential specialists: Pricing Second Homes Can be a Real Challenge - 03/26/16 11:21 PM
Pricing second homes/vacation homes is often more complex and more challenging than putting a price on a primary home. Seller motivations are different, time frames are different, even the level of urgency is different.
The most recent edition of The Residential Specialist magazine (pubished by CRS, the Council of Residential Specialists in Chicago) features an article by Donna Shryer entitled "The Fine Art of Pricing". The article is well-written and the information it contains certainly applies to primary homes. But second homes are a different matter.
The article states that sellers want and need data, preferring an evidence-based approach to pricing. Unfortunately, we find over and over again that … (3 comments)

During the same time as my service … (0 comments)

council of residential specialists: Marketing to Real Estate Prospects Who Use Mobile Devices is Essential - 04/06/13 04:41 AM
Marketing to Real Estate Prospects Who Use Mobile Devices is Essential

If your agent isn't tailoring their online marketing to users of mobile devices, you need to show them some statistics.
Slate Magazine reports that the Smartphone adoption rate isn't slowing down.  On the contrary, the rate at which Americans are buying their first smartphone is gaining.  And Slate further mentions that manufacturers and vendors will likely stop offering non-smartphones in the near future.  So the die-hard Luddite who points with pride to their old-fashioned phone without Web browsing capability or applications will soon find their antiquated communication device has become irreplaceable once it wears out.

It's Not Just About the Money
But let's face it, when you undertake one of the largest purchases you'll make in a lifetime, you'll want to work with a busy professional, not a hobbyist or seasonal part-time agent.  Success in real estate is about making educated decisions.  More closed sales and more experience means that your … (0 comments)
