crs: What Does it Mean to be Published in a Nationwide Real Estate Magazine - 04/18/16 08:56 AM
What Does it Mean to be Published in a Nationwide Real Estate Magazine?
Since 2009, I've been fortunate enough to be published (or interviewed) a total of seven times in various nationwide real estate publications. That list of publications included Realtor Magazine, the NAR "Legislative Live Blog", The Wall Street Journal  and The Residential Specialist Magazine  (published by the Council of Residential Specialists).
The first of these published interviews took place in 2009 and 2010, with two interviews by Regina Ludes for The Residential Specialist Magazine, one entitled "Letter Perfect" and the second entitled "State of the Markets" (about the Minneapolis & Saint Paul … (12 comments)

Two CRS President's Pins in Two States, Two Years Apart
I'm quite proud of these two small gold lapel pins.  They represent the fact that I am currently in my second term as a CRS (Council of Residential Specialists) Chapter President.

In 2011, I was approached by members of the leadership team at the Wisconsin CRS Chapter and they asked me if I would consider serving as President of the Wisconsin CRS Chapter.  I agreed and two years later, in 2013, I served in that capacity in the State of Wisconsin.
During the same time as my service … (0 comments)

A Referral From Minneapolis Real Estate Agent Cotty Lowry Shows Why Other Real Estate Professionals Choose Madeline Island Realty
At the beginning of August, I received a phone call from Minneapolis area Realtor Cotty Lowry, inquiring about a Madeline Island property owned by one of his clients.

Cotty Lowry is a well-known and much respected Realtor in the Twin Cities area who specializes in the south Minneapolis area.  He enjoyed a stellar career as a residential Realtor with Coldwell Banker Burnet, becoming one of the top 40 sales associates at that firm in 2002.  Cotty is now a partner and owner with the Minneapolis … (0 comments)

Professionals Share Their Knowledge - Amateurs Hoard What Little They Know
A couple days ago, I was sitting in my Madeline Island real estate office at the computer when I noticed that one of my area competitors was standing outside our building, staring at our property listing sheets on display.  She spent quite a long time there and in particular it looked like she was gazing at our property flyers (with multiple large color photos).
I waited quite awhile, then stuck my head out the door and asked if I could help her.  She walked into the office and … (1 comments)

crs: What Happens When the Foreclosure Era is Over? - 08/04/10 04:20 AM
These days, I'm asking my colleagues in the real estate industry, particularly brokers, "what are your plans for the post-crisis era?"
We are training a whole segment of our industry (and a large segment at that) how to deal with REO, short sale and foreclosure properties.  There are courses everywhere you look which deal with short sales and foreclosures, like the CRS 111 course.  The National Association of Realtors even has a "Short Sale and Foreclosure Certification" program
When the smoke clears and the backlog of foreclosures subsides, and it will, there will be thousands of agents nationwide who are trained and … (9 comments)

crs: Hat Trick - Featured Three Times in Major Real Estate Publications This Year! - 07/24/10 05:17 PM
2010 has been a pretty awesome year for me, at least from a public relations standpoint.
Since the beginning of the year, I've been privileged to be featured three times in major real estate publications.  In the January/February 2010 issue of The Residential Specialist magazine, I was interviewed by Regina Ludes in an article entitled "Letter Perfect".  The article focused on ways to promote the CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designation to clients and colleagues in the real estate industry.

In the March/April 2010 issue of The Residential Specialist magazine, I was interviewed again by Regina Ludes, for a "State of … (13 comments)

crs: Received my Certification from NAR to Teach the "At Home With Diversity" Course - 02/26/10 06:18 AM
Today, I received official word from the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) that I am now certified to teach the "At Home With Diversity" course.

To the best of my knowledge, I'm the first Wisconsin real estate licensee to become a NAR-certified instructor for the AHWD program.  A few months ago, I was urged to obtain the AHWD trainer certificate by another instructor and also received encouragement from friends and colleagues on our Wisconsin Realtors Association Equal Opportunity in Housing Committee.
Not only is this course valuable in itself as an important tool for becoming culturally competent in your practice of real estate, but … (2 comments)
