COVID-19 has Reached Bayfield County, Wisconsin
A good friend and client of mine who lives in Bayfield, Wisconsin emailed me this morning,"yesterday I noticed the Bayfield County Health Department notice reported that COVID-19 moved into Bayfield County".
He went on to report that "A high school student traveled to an infected area and brought a treat home to us. The City has been shut down for a week".
Sad News for Bayfield County and the surrounding area. I'm not aware of any confirmed cases of the virus on Madeline Island as yet.

North Carolina Outer Banks Closed to Tourists, is Madeline Island Next?
In North Carolina, Dare County police and municipal officials have made the decision to blockade most of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The roadblock is an attempt to prevent tourists and other non-residents from bringing the coronavirus to their remote community.
The blockade began on Tuesday afternoon, the 17th of March. At this time, only permanent residents, "essential personnel" and property owners are permitted to pass beyond checkpoints set up by Dare County officials. Permits are being issued to those essential personnel and property owners.

Our recent sale of 37640 Brickyard Creek Road in Bayfield, Wisconsin was the first of these two significant pending sales. This property was listed for sale by broker Eric Kodner, with Madeline Island Realty. Madeline Island Realty also procured the buyer for this transaction.

The real estate agent who posed the question is a well-known real estate industry observer and the reply came from a luxury real estate specialist in Hawaii.

I remember quite well the day that our company, Madeline Island Realty, became the first real estate brokerage on Madeline Island to join a Multiple Listing Service (MLS). It was at the beginning of 2001 that I begain having discussions with the folks at Northwest Wisconsin Multiple Listing Service in Eau Claire, Wisconsin about becoming a member. At that time, nobody on Madeline Island or in nearby Bayfield, Wisconsin had an MLS membership or uploaded their property listings to a Multiple Listing Service.

Every day brings a new experience in this business. This morning, we were scheduled to have a home inspection performed at one of our Madeline Island home listings. That inspection had to be postponed, due to the "Polar Vortex".
The forecast last night for LaPointe, Wisconsin was for temperatures of eighteen to twenty below zero. And nighttime lows are predicted to remain in the subzero category for the next four or five days.

It's not often that we list and sell an aircraft hangar, but we're very proud of this one. Hangar number eight at the Madeline Island Airport, located at 777 Airport Drive, LaPointe, Wisconsin is now sold.
