quinte real estate: Open House in Campbellford April 14 2 - 4 PM - 04/13/13 08:32 AM
I will be hosting an open house at 33 woodland Estate Road, just five minutes north of Campbellford on Sunday April 14, from 2 - 4 p.m.
This waterfront property is in the perfect spot for avid fishermen on the east side of Lake Seymour, close to Healey Falls. The house is very well priced at $284,900, and if you put an offer in now, you will own it in time to enjoy the summer season.
This year round house is in tip-top condition, and has three bedrooms (the master has an en-suite) and two bathrooms. The kitchen is a … (9 comments)

This lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom bungalow with spectacular views of Lake Ontario is listed for $244,000 and the owners want it sold (I've been told a few times now).

quinte real estate: Quinte Real Estate Numbers Quarter 1 - How Did We Do? - 04/09/13 03:33 AM
I blogged about Quinte real estate statistics in March, and apparently the local real estate market has been on a lot of people's minds. I received quite a few emails from people who asked for clarification about the numbers. Some of them were from people who have their properties listed for sale, while others were from people who were merely curious. It's actually the first time one of my statistical posts received any kind of response, so I'm going to the well one more time (at least).
Are the residential sales numbers in Quinte down? Well, yes they are, a significant … (6 comments)

quinte real estate: Price Reduction on 638 Second Dug Hill Road - 04/05/13 02:41 AM
This beautifully updated home is well situated on 15+ acres and would be perfect for people seeking a bit of serenity. Despite the acreage, this home is located within the town limits of Trenton, so it combines the best of both city living and country living. The price has been reduced to $289,000, the owners want it sold.

quinte real estate: Look Out for the Early Riders in Quinte - 03/27/13 03:28 AM
It would seem that the weather is finally getting spring-like enough in the Quinte area for enthusiasts to break out their bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles. This is always a bit of a nerve-wracking time as drivers of cars aren't used to the presence of riders yet, and sometimes forget to check twice before changing lanes. The weather can also be a bit of a wild card, as it might be tempting to bring a bike to work only to find that it has snowed during an eight hour shift, and that the ride home won't be much fun.
Motorists of … (6 comments)

quinte real estate: So, How's the Spring Real Estate Market in Quinte Shaping up? - 03/18/13 12:04 AM

I'm sure that many Canadians have been reading the articles in the media about the state of the Canadian real estate market lately. There seems to be a lot of alarm bells going off. People are worried about the value of what usually amounts to their biggest investment, their homes. Correspondingly there always seems to be a bit of a pushback from the real estate industry, telling folks that there's no cause for alarm and that everything is smooth sailing.
I'm not an expert at breaking down the whole Canadian market, but I do know a whole lot about the Quinte real estate … (6 comments)

quinte real estate: Four or Five Shades of Grey. - 02/28/13 01:36 AM
It looks like Old Man Winter is having one last kick at the can in the Quinte area. Well, I hope it's one last kick. It's not too bad though, it's fairly warm out, hovering around the freezing mark, so it's not blustery. The snow is wet and heavy though, and when the sun goes down it becomes a little treacherous on the roads. I saw at least a dozen cars on the side of the road between Belleville and Brighton last night. Many people simply don't adjust for the winter conditions.
This morning the roads were slushy and wet, and … (12 comments)

quinte real estate: Ameliasburgh Ontario - 02/17/13 08:07 AM
The hamlet of Ameliasburgh is one of the prettier places in Prince Edward County. It was named after Princess Amelia, the fifteenth child of King George III. I suppose Amelia's children wouldn't have had much of a shot at becoming kings or queens, so I hope she took some solace in having this picturesque little place named after her.
Ameliasburgh is situated right on County Road 19, a quiet and curvy road, very pleasant for a motorcycle trip in the summer months, and for such a small place, there are a surprising number of things to see, especially if one is interested in … (6 comments)

quinte real estate: A New and Exciting Life - 02/15/13 09:48 AM
I have a tendency to become attached to certain things. It's a bit silly, but I think this phenomenon was explained quite well on the T.V. show Seinfeld, where Jerry had trouble throwing out his favourite ratty old T-shirt which he had named Golden Boy. I become a little attached to my jeans.
My jeans go through a life cycle. First they are crisp and new, and I can wear them just about anywhere. I can strut about town in them. They fit well, look good, and I even wear them to work when I'm out on farms or with clients … (5 comments)

quinte real estate: Catching Fish While the Sun Shines in Quinte - 02/13/13 12:36 AM
Unfortunately, it's a bit too cold to be making hay at the moment, but it doesn't mean that one can't get out and about when the sun shines in winter. I took a stroll down to the Bay of Quinte and found a whole bunch of people who love to get out in the winter. These people can sit in little huts on a frozen bay, staring at a little hole they have bored into the ice, and occasionally catch a fish. It's not my cup of tea, but it seems to suit them just fine. This picture doesn't do the … (17 comments)

quinte real estate: Digging Out - 02/09/13 10:18 PM
I will admit that I'm not terribly enthusiastic about winter. I don't ski, I'm not a good skater, I don't like being cold, and the grey sky and lack of sunlight can be depressing. I tend not to spend a lot of time outside.
Yesterday was very pleasant though, it was sunny, there was no wind, and the temperature was only a couple of degrees below zero.
We had a lot of snow on Friday, apparently the biggest snowfall since 2008, so there was a lot of work to be done. First I had to retrieve my car which I had … (38 comments)

quinte real estate: My New Haircut - It's a Lot of Work. - 02/01/13 07:13 AM
Occasionally I must drive to Toronto for a meeting or to attend one event or the other. While I love the little town that I live and work in, it sometimes can be fun seeing the sights and sounds of the city. This particular meeting was taking place in the area near the intersections of Yonge and Wellesley. It's an interesting area, lots of neat stuff to see and do. Since I had parked the car uptown and taken the subway down, I had about an hour to spare. Who knew - public transport saves time.

After glancing at my … (13 comments)

quinte real estate: The Trenton Farmers Market - 01/30/13 05:48 AM
The Trenton Farmer's Market is the kind of place where a fellow like me loves to spend my dollars. The prices are great, the inventory is fantastic and the service is always friendly. It's one of those businesses that has a very loyal customer base, and for good reason.
I'm not all that great at preparing meals, but I can still churn out some good ones with the help of my friends at this long-time family owned and operated establishments. The trick is to let them do most of the work. Not only do they have one of those fantastic butcher shops … (3 comments)

quinte real estate: Multiple Offers - 01/24/13 06:09 AM
I work in one of the smaller real estate boards in Ontario, mostly smaller towns and rural areas. The pace tends to be a little slower than it would be in the Toronto Real Estate Board, and the situation of multiple offers on the same property does not happen with the same frequency as it would in larger, more urban boards where certain properties would be more in demand. In the last four years I have been involved in about 15 multiple offer situations, mostly representing a buyer. I have had only one listing that has attracted multiple offers. All but … (7 comments)

quinte real estate: Blogxhaustion - 01/23/13 04:25 AM
Thanks for all the emails. Apparently I have been missed on Active Rain and folks have been wondering what I've been up to. The truth is that I really haven't been up to very much. I have been working much as I regularly do, perhaps even harder than usual, I just seem to have developed an aversion to just about everything having to do with computers. I've become exhausted. Blogging is a lot like going to the gym, it's tough getting back on the wagon once you have fallen off. It doesn't help that the winter can make me feel particularly … (12 comments)

quinte real estate: Crowe Lake, Marmora's Secret - 11/17/12 05:55 AM
Where do people who live in cottage country own their own cottages? Bet you never thought of that question before.
In the Quinte area we are surrounded by water on all sides. We have lakes, rivers, streams, and every type of fresh water body imaginable. You wouldn't think that folks who live here would have to own a cottage, but many do. Why not? the price of waterfront property is so reasonable in this area, why wouldn't you if you can afford it?
One of the popular spots for locals is Crowe Lake near the little town of Marmora Ontario. Crowe Lake is a popular place … (15 comments)

quinte real estate: Occupy Trenton - 10/02/12 08:45 AM
We are angry and we're not going to take it any more. It's time something was done about it.
Since the organizers of the Occupy Movements seem to concentrate their efforts on the larger urban centres, it's time people got motivated to start their own Occupy movements in the small towns and rural hinterlands that make up over 99% of this nation's landmass.
I look around me and see that nobody else is coming forward in the Quinte area to get the ball rolling, so it's up to me to start the "Occupy Trenton" Movement. There are many complexities when considering starting an … (18 comments)

quinte real estate: Thanks For The Feedback. - 09/11/12 01:19 AM

Sometimes a bit of criticism can be helpful. Perhaps I would have preferred it with nicer wording, but someone did take the time out to tell me what s/he thinks about one of my websites. When most people don't like something, they just leave without voicing their displeasure, so this was a bit of a gift.
This person is correct about my website. It's one of my websites that I haven't paid any as much attention to as I should have, and it needs quite a bit of work. Due to one of the mysteries of Google, it has popped … (27 comments)
