I know a lot of people that are the do-it-yourself type. If they need some sheet rock installed, their granite counter tops picked up, or some carpet put down do they call a professional? No, they read a manual, buy some tools, and do it themselves. A friend of a friend of mine is downsizing, his kids are all off to college so he and his wife want a smaller place, and he asked me why he needed to hire a broker. He thinks it will be easier and cheaper to do it himself, how could anyone know more about his house … (2 comments)

Most people think that finding a broker/real estate agent is easy but in reality it SHOULD be hard. When selling or buying a home, when that much money and your credit is involved, you shouldn't just choose the person with the "hippest" website of the person who sells/finds the most houses. Being a broker is more than that. When looking for a broker you should keep several things in mind:
