remax: PROUD TO BE A RE/MAX AGENT! - 04/03/13 03:51 AM
The 2012 numbers are in, and once again RE/MAX agents have outproduced the competition. The industry report released today shows that RE/MAX agents in the U.S. closed 828,960 residential transaction sides in 2012. The nearest competitor? Just 663,826. RE/MAX also led in national advertising, website visits and global reach.   Great news for us as RE/MAX agents.  We are proud to be associated with RE/MAX!

remax: Tax Credit Cheaters - 04/20/11 04:48 AM
I’m steamed! I just read an article published by the Daily Real
Estate News. It was about how the IRS claimed that the US
government paid $513 million in buyers tax credits during the last
stimulus for home buyers to people who did not really qualify.
People who received the tax credits were those under the age of
18 who did not even own a home and some were even prison
inmates! Outrageous! Even though this tax credit helped my
industry, it goes to show you that the government just keeps
using its credit card and increasing its credit limit.

remax: RE/MAX VERSUS THE INDUSTRY…2010 DATA - 03/31/11 06:19 AM
This graph is something new on the RE/MAX site that our agents can use.  If I can say so…it does look pretty impressive.  Though the market has taken a toll on a lot of agents (including those who have left the industry), this graph shows that RE/MAX agents are on the leading edge and do more transaction sides per U.S. agent than other leading companies.  RE/MAX productivity per agent (13.1 sides per agent) easily exceeds Coldwell Banker (7.1 sides per agent), Century 21 (5.4), Keller Williams (5.1), Prudential (6.2), ERA (6.3), and Better Homes and Gardens (3.5). The information shown in the … (1 comments)

remax: RE/MAX National Convention - 02/26/10 07:48 AM
Dale and I will be leaving Milwaukee this Sunday for Orlando to attend the RE/MAX National Convention.Besides a vast selection of educational topics we have to choose from, the emphasis will be on short sales and foreclosure remedies.  Granted, we are not Nevada, Arizona, Florida or Michigan, but the Milwaukee area has its share of short sales and foreclosures that push prices downward.  Even Franklin, where we are the #1 broker, has its share of short sales and foreclosures.  Dale and I both have obtained the CDPE designation, which stands for Certified Distressed Property Expert.  We have learned that this whole … (0 comments)

remax: Buy or Rent? - 09/14/09 06:41 AM
Housing prices are down in many parts of the country and interest rates are low.  Is now the correct time to buy?  The decision is difficult but you can ask yourself some questions that may help you determine if this is the time to buy.    How long do you plan on staying in the home?  There are transaction costs associated with buying a home, which can include closing costs (the appraisal fee and the credit report) and an inspector’s fee.  If you average these fees over 10 years, these fees are not a big deal, however if you plan on … (1 comments)

remax: EXTRA SERVICES IN THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY - 08/31/09 03:22 AM
Extra services are demanded of real estate agents and companies now, more than ever in the type of market that we are in. Inspections, appraisals, moving company recommendations and title company affiliations are just some of the things that are important to both buyers and sellers.
According to J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Home Buyer / Seller Study shows that overall satisfaction is determined by examining three factors for a home buyer: Agent is the #1 factor as rated by 47% of home buyers; Office is important to 28% of home buyers and additional services are important to 15% … (0 comments)

remax: ONE OF MY PET PEEVES - 06/25/09 06:10 AM
One of my biggest pet peeves is getting someone’s voice mail and leaving them a message, and never getting a call back. I understand that in the world of technology that voice mail is a part of life, and I can live with that. But, people you must call people back in a timely fashion, and keep you message on your voicemail current. If you are going to be out of town please state that on your message and who is covering for you. In most instances, I expect to get a call back the same day if I left … (0 comments)

remax: WOW! What a name for a book…”Eat That Frog”. - 06/08/09 09:48 AM
WOW!  What a name for a book…”Eat That Frog”. This book was recommended by the owner of RE/MAX Realty 100…Jeff Benson.  Periodically Jeff will give us short books to read that can easily be related to real estate.  Frogs in this title relates to the biggest, most important task that you are likely to procrastinate on.  This is a quick easy read, one that I would recommend. The one concept in this book that I thought I would share with you has to do with setting priorities.  This is called the ABCDE method.  Begin each day by writing down all the … (0 comments)

remax: The Glass is half full for Generation Y's - 04/15/09 08:38 AM
Optimism is what Generation Y's are saying about the real estate market. A major survey was conducted with the Generation born between 1980 and 1995. The national survey conducted by The Concord Group states:
-50% say they are likely to purchase a home within the next three years

-50% say tax credits or lower interest rates would motivate them to purchase a residence sooner

-70% believe home prices will be higher or at todayÍs levels in two years

-62% say wealth creation is a very big advantage of real estate ownership

remax: The Professional and the NOT SO Professional. - 03/11/09 11:24 AM
Last week I had the opportunity to experience a sad reality, an unprofessional REALTOR, one who I hope leaves the business because their actions reflect our industry. Selling real estate in Milwaukee and South Eastern Wisconsin, we have some of the friendliest and most honest people in the country.  Let me tell you why this is not the REALTOR who you want to work with.
A few weeks ago I placed myself into a search waiting for a property to come back on the market from a short sale to a foreclosure. I received an email … (0 comments)

remax: Spring Cleaning - 03/11/09 11:03 AM
The last time I wrote a blog, I talked about how to make your home have more curb appeal in anticipation of selling in the Milwaukee market!  Now I am going to share my thoughts with you on the inside of homes and how you can easily make your home more presentable (and therefore appealing) to buyers without incurring a lot of costs.

CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN.  Dale was telling me that he was on a listing appointment the other night and came home very disgusted as this was a home that he sold these people about 8 years ago.  “I … (1 comments)

remax: To purchase or not to purchase. That is the question. - 02/04/09 10:06 AM
The National Association of Realtors reported that pending home sales rose in December to 6.3 percent from November.  Most of the gains were in the Midwest and South.  This is some positive news for the real estate industry and home sellers.  As we wait this week or weeks to find out if the next stimulus package is passed by the senate, home buyers are keeping a close eye on what happens to the already passed law of the $7,500 tax credit.  Right now this tax credit has to be paid back $500 dollars each year for a 15 year period.  I … (0 comments)
