This morning I was browsing the Internet for a particular item.  I stumbled onto a website I had never visited and was given the option of purchasing as a guest or creating a free member account.  I opted for 'guest' since all that I needed to provide was my email address and I quickly added the item into my cart.  As I proceeded to checkout, I realized that the cost of shipping would be almost as much as the item, and I logged out.

I recently received an email from a distant acquaintance.  I had not heard from this person in many years and as I opened the email, my thoughts wandered back to some long-ago-memories that brought a smile to my face.  My smile and my sweet thoughts were abruptly interrupted when the email lacked any personal care and was simply a cold solicitation for my business.  
Have you ever encountered a similar experience?
I felt like this person had put together a list of people that they had ever known and blasted out a marketing email with the hopes of gaining some customers.

A few years ago I was sitting in a real estate marketing training session that had promised to share some 'new and exciting' ways to start a real estate conversation.  I sat in the front row with my pad and pen in hand, anxious to gather each and every word of wisdom. 
Well, I confess that my expectations were met with some disappointment when one of the suggestions was to go to a local festival or summer music in the park event and "toss a handful of business cards into the air."

Growing up in an Italian family, I learned very early in life the tremendous value of the '3F's'  - Family, Friends and Food.
