Did you know that Friday, September 20th, 2013 is CAR FREE DAY LONG ISLAND? CAR FREE DAY is an international event held every year in September to encourage people to leave their car at home and, instead, to either walk or take the train, bus, subway, bicycle, ferry or other means of mass transportation. CAR FREE DAY LONG ISLAND is meant to help us consider and reverse the negative impact of the use of single occupancy vehicles on Long Island. It's September 1st --Labor Day is just about upon us, the kids will be back in school next week if they are not already, and I hear that some people have even begun their holiday shopping! But hold on! If you want to see some brilliant color in your garden in the springtime, then you must start planning now. The way to do that by planting spring flowering bulbs. long island: Huntington Plans Community Center for Jack Abrams Intermediate School

Huntington Town Supervisor, Frank Petrone, has expressed a need for a Community Center, which will serve the Huntington Union Free School District. He has expressed interest in utilizing the Jack Abrams Intermediate School (JAI), should the building become available. JAI is also the site for the newly proposed 6th Grade Center. The 6th Grade Center, together with the newly proposed Community Center, will create a much needed "anchor" in Huntington Station and will be perfectly suited to meet the needs of all residents in Huntington and Huntington Station within HUFSD.
