adventure: Home Shopping And The Four-Legged Stool - 04/25/16 03:35 AM
What kind of stool is most likely to keep you from toppling over when you sit on it? Of course, two-legged stools won’t even stand on their own. Three-legged stools are okay, but still unstable. Four-legged stools are rock solid.
What does that have to do with shopping for a new home?
Well, if you want to find the right home quickly and for the best price, you need to have four things in place – the four legs of the stool. They will help ensure the experience goes smoothly.
The first leg is your wish list. You need to have a clear picture … (1 comments)

But as you know, life happens. Things change. You might unexpectedly find yourself in the position of wanting or having to quickly sell your home.
It happens more often than you might think. In fact, according to studies into why people sell their homes, more than a third are due to relatively quick and unexpected changes. Something happens – a job relocation, a lifestyle change – and the homeowner finds him or herself making a move.
In these situations, the biggest source of stress is caused by the … (1 comments)

adventure: Your Property Is The Product - 01/26/16 07:52 PM
They say, “Home is where the heart is.” How true! That’s why, when selling your property, it’s important to realize that your home – your heart — is moving to another place. Your current property is now a product that you want to sell quickly, and for the best price possible.
Making that mental transition, however, isn’t easy. After all, you probably have at least one fond memory associated with every room in your house! Here’s a tip: Pack up the personal items, such as pictures and trophies. Rearrange the furniture. Make it look like someone else’s home.
When you let go of … (0 comments)

adventure: How Much Can You Really Afford? - 12/14/15 08:56 AM
“Can we afford it?” That’s the first thought that comes to mind when shopping for your next dream home. Fortunately it’s an easy question to answer if you consider your lifestyle, financial goals, expenses and mortgage eligibility.
Lifestyle
There’s more to life than just paying the mortgage and other living expenses. Hobbies, entertainment, vacations, family adventures, and charitable causes are also important. Don’t be house poor. Think of your “lifestyle” as another bill you must pay — to yourself.
Financial Goals
Your new home is not just a place to live. It’s also an investment. Make sure it fits with your overall investment plan, which … (0 comments)

adventure: Putting The Fun Back Into Moving Day - 11/19/15 11:11 AM
Moving into a new home should be an exciting experience. But, unfortunately, that's not typically the case. In fact, moving day is traditionally fraught with such misery that there is even a reality TV show about it!
Your real estate agent can help. He or she can assist you in finding the right movers, provide you with relocation tips, recommend contractors and other home professionals, and advise you on what to expect on closing day.
Some agents disappear after the deal is done. Make sure your agent is available to help make the transition into your new home a pleasant one.
Your Real Estate … (1 comments)

adventure: Day 8, Selling a House - Office Remodelling - 05/07/15 12:55 AM
For heavens sake, how many cords do you need to set up one home office? It took me an hour just to get all of these disconnected, I wonder how long would it take my husband to put it all back together.....

Oh, did anyone notice that the picture was upside-down? Such a wire-cord mess you cant even tell. Well, once the office is all done, we will only have kitchen left on the main floor and then we can move below the ground. I have a bad feeling thought, that the kitchen will take forever.

Meanwhile in my garden.... Sometimes I … (0 comments)

adventure: Day 5, Selling a Home - Not too Much of a Progress - 05/04/15 06:20 AM
Very disappointing day - we were so busy with work and kids that did not get much done, and the time is pressing...
Dining room is done, now living room turned into a disaster.....

This is quite a peculiar thing with home renovations - and not many are ready for it - once you miss a day out of schedule, there is a huge possibility that entire schedule will go down the drain....
Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive....

adventure: Day 4, Selling a Home - What Do you do with Your Unused Paint? - 05/02/15 04:27 AM
I found tons of unused paint in the closet - anything from half can to 1/8 of can in various shades and colours. What do you do with all the treasure? Cant just  throw it in the garbage, as household paint is considered toxic waste, so had to find a drop off facility - everything has to be a challenge....

There is a city program called "Orange Drop" - here is a quick link for you! You could always go there, enter your postal code and a type of hazardous material you have to get rid off and it will give … (2 comments)

adventure: Day 3, Challenge 1 - Selling a House - Light Fixtures - 05/01/15 03:02 AM
I will never grow tired of saying how important is installing good light fixtures in getting the best price for your home. Light fixture does not have to cost you a fortune, it just has to serve its purpose - bring light inside the room.

We had a very cool and unique chandelier in the dining room. It was also old. And it was burning light bulbs like crazy. And I am still positive that the ginny will come out if you rub it. But now it took its honorable place outside the house.First picture - is a new one. Now you … (0 comments)

adventure: Day 2, Challenge 1 - Selling a House - Lets Start Staging - 04/30/15 02:47 AM
Can you believe that my tiny lady style car could fit the entire dining set? I am still shocked.

Sometimes owning a camper car comes in handy outside the camping. My dining room is almost ready and it was a time to bring in some decent furniture.  By the way we never had a formal dining room - just did not need it. Kitchen is our favourite place to hang around - ask all the folks who used to visit me for a bottle of beer, slice of cake or cooking class. But for the sale we decided to have a … (0 comments)

adventure: Day 1, Challenge 2 - Buying a Home - 04/29/15 12:40 AM
A wise person was who said you should not look for the house to buy untill you sold your previous one....

Of course, why would we listen? Went house hunting yesterday - saw three homes.
Number 1 looked like million dollars inside, but outside..... three streets down from the raildtracks and yes, you can hear every train, landscaping - ouch, ouch, ouch, and on top of everything - bus stop right in front of the house. I shall say, that the listing agents did an awesome job creating a broshure for the house - looks like a million dollars too
Number 2 - east … (0 comments)
