Best Places to Live 2009
US News has selected their picks for "Best Places to Live" for the year 2009.  They looked for affordable communities that have strong economies and offer plenty of fun things to do. My adopted home-town of St. Augustine Florida ranked #9!  Here is what they reported...
St. Augustine, Florida
"As the nations longest continually inhabited European-founded city, St. Augustine, Fla., considers itself the oldest city in the United States. Founded in 1565 by Spanish Adm. Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, this community of 13,000 residents on Florida's northeastern coast has managed to maintain its colonial charm. Take … (4 comments)

relocating to st augustine: Economist believes that home sales will continue to rise - 06/08/09 11:47 PM
Economist believes that home sales will continue to rise.  However, with today's market so competitive, setting the right price is critical.
Housing analysts have revised their forecast and are predicting existing home sales volume of 4.68 million units for 2009.
According to Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, the increased activity can be attributed to both newer demand from first-time home buyers, and a seasonal rise in interest from repeat buyers. "Most of the sales are taking place in lower price ranges and activity is beginning to pick up in the mid-price ranges," he said.
An April survey revealed first-time buyers declined … (0 comments)

relocating to st augustine: Whats in Your In Box? - 05/15/09 10:16 AM
I learned about xobni at the NAR Mid-year meetings.  Funny thing is that I was using it and did not understand the power of this program.

Here is a brief review  from PCworld.com"
"Xobni (inbox spelled backward) is a free add-on, currently in public beta, for Microsoft Outlook. The reason behind the name: This useful tool allows you to look at your e-mail inbox from a whole new perspective. The add-on improves management of messages and contacts, one of Outlook's biggest shortcomings. It provides functionality that Outlook should deliver natively, and does so without affecting the e-mail client's performance."

relocating to st augustine: Are You Getting the Most Out Of Your Networking Opportunity? - 03/20/09 01:14 AM
One of the benefits of our Women's Council of REALTORS membership is the awesome networking opportunities we have not only at our meetings, but at the many events we have during the year.

Here are 5 Keys to Successful Networking:

Bring a lot of cards and keep them accessible.  How professional is it to be fumbling about the bottom of your bag searching for a card.   Develop a brief “elevator speech” about yourself and your business.  The key is brief, don’t talk endlessly about yourself.  Ask more questions, such as how did you get started in your business … (3 comments)

relocating to st augustine: If you could live.... - 02/05/09 12:36 AM
"If you could live in any state in the country, except the state you live in now, what state would you choose to live in?"
This question was asked by Harris Interactive® as they conducted a nationwide survey of 2,694 adults conducted online between August 7 and 13, 2007.  The result of this survey is known as the The Harris Poll®   Florida, ranking in the top 5, is one of the most popular places people would choose to live.
Why is that? I know why I choose to live and work in St. Augustine Florida.  St. Augustine offers:

I subscribe to Jon Gordon's Positive Tips newsletter.  I've read his books, I've heard him speak, I am a fan and an advocate in his positive lifestyle.  He wrote recently...." Imagine if the headline read "Employment rate closing in on 92%" rather than saying "The Unemployment rate is soaring to 8%."
Wow, what a different perspective that gives me.  There is always a way to turn a negative situation into … (7 comments)
