wcr: What is a Bratini? - 09/20/11 10:48 AM

In the spring of 2009, as Vice President of Membership of the St. Augustine Regional Woman’s Council of REALTORS, (WCR) St. Augustine Regional Council, I helped develop a new fundraiser.  We wanted to support local women as well as raise money for the WCR Education fund.   Artbreakers, Artists for the fight against cancer, was our first choice.  Artbreakers is a non-profit organization based in St. Johns County and all of the money they raise stays right here in our county.  (Please learn more about this wonderful group at their website www/artbreakers.org.)

In our desire to do something different we … (3 comments)

wcr: Entrepreneur - Who Me? I was just trying to help. - 12/07/10 01:20 AM
2010 has been a year of transformation for my business just as Web 2.0 has transformed the process of buying and selling homes in St. Augustine.
This year I became a partner in a virtual tour company, Listing Solutions. I shared a vision with my partner, Dave Hall, to expand this business to a National online marketing company with a REALTOR® focus. As a REALTOR® myself, with Watson Realty Corp,  I have firsthand knowledge of how challenging the market is today. I understand how much our business has changed over the years and I appreciate the need to cut costs while … (0 comments)

wcr: 5 Laws of Sales - 12/03/10 02:18 AM
My friend and WCR associate, Ricki Taylor, with Synovus Mortgage, Inc. is pretty awesome.  She sends me motivational messages that really keep me moving - and thinking!
Sales, the highest and often the lowest paid profession in the world, and according to some the most exciting (yes!) when homes are selling, and the most depressing when they are not.
Today she offered Five Laws of Sales:
• An objection in motion tends to stay in motion- In sales it is called the "Law of Momentum." When things are going well for you in sales, take advantage of your hard work, good … (1 comments)

wcr: Succeed in Challenging Times - 01/04/09 10:51 PM
I once read that the most skilled person always succeeds in challenging times.  So, my 2009 resolution is to put more emphasis developing my personal selling skills.  Many agents may not take the opportunity of a slow market to invest in continuing education.  Maybe they don't want to spend the coin right now because the commissions are not flowing in.  Or, perhaps, they don't want to spend the time sitting in a class when they can be out prospecting.
I think this is a mistake.  I plan to attend as many seminars that I can.  Many are free or offered inexpensively at … (13 comments)

wcr: Amy showed me that I was Techno-challenged - 06/26/08 04:58 AM
The Womens Council of REALTORS St. Augustine Regional Chapter hosted a Technology Seminar yesterday.  Lead by a phenomenal National Speaker, Amy Chorew, we learned how network sites (like Active Rain) help in our web search optimization.  Amy reviewed two cool programs that I did not know about, and they are free by the way, that will save me time and money in my business.

The first program, Photo Story 3, I have actually used before.  I have made a few videos from personal digital photos.  What I did not know was that your voice can be added to the "video" … (5 comments)

wcr: Challenge - 05/29/08 03:26 AM
A friend of mine challenged me this morning to participate in the "Spirit 30/30/30" plan.  Even though it is a promotion for their company, I applaud Spirit Airlines in their quest to save the public money, reduce fuel consumption and enhance our environment.
I plan to implement a number of their suggestions, because Lord knows I need to save some coin.  How about you, are you ready to take the Sprit Challenge?

1.        Carpool - sharing a ride with up to 3 other people can save thousands of dollars.  Here are a few online resources to help you find a … (0 comments)

wcr: Women's Council Members Help Each Other - 05/22/08 08:05 AM
My association with the Women's Council of REALTORS has helped me grow as a leader and as a Real Estate Professional through the many networking and educational opportunities.   However, it was not until recently that I discovered that there is much more to this organization ... it has heart.
I mean H-E-A-R-T!
One of our members, Pam Gesell, has a 17-year old son , Carl, who is fighting a very aggressive cancer:  Non-Hodgkin's large cell lymphoma.  The family is in need of assistance to help cover the mounting medical expenses for Carl's ongoing treatments.  At a recent WCR Board meeting, it was decided to … (1 comments)
