Rotary sponsored International Selkirk Loop WaCanId Bicycle Ride begins early morning, September 14 2016,  from Rossland BC and finishes the day in Nelson BC.  Today will show itself to be the most varied day in riding.  68 miles with over 4,800 feet in elevation climb.  (See Day 2 Post for elevation footnote).  That is tempered with 6,700 downhill.  
Virtually out the Hotel Lobby door begins an 1,800 foot climb with 13 mile
grade to Nancy Greene Summit.  
 
 
From there we enjoy a long downhill to Castlegar

Although the start of Rotary Sponsored International Selkirk Loop WaCanId ride, from Sandpoint Idaho, was only the day before on September 12, 2016, it is quickly fading to memory with the beginning of Day 2, out of Colville Washington and ending Rossland BC.  Day 2 is the shortest mileage day we will have at only 61 miles.  The overall elevation gain being substantial though, at 4,500 feet*.  
Traveling along the back roads of the Coleville Washington area takes us through some wonderful pastures and farmland. Gives us time to get some of the kinks … (14 comments)

Coming out of Super One Grocery in Sandpoint Idaho one late afternoon I was treated to quite a surprise.  In the short time I had been inside a storm front had moved in.  With Super One flying our Flag at all stores this one seemed to be perfectly framed.  I needed to scramble to the car and grab the camera in order not to let the opportunity pass by.

Sandpoint Idaho offers many events and activities during the summer months. Some of these events are of a nature one does not want to decide to do it the day before.  One such event is the Chafe 150.  As stated this is a 150 mile single day bicycle ride.
There are also 2 shorter rides.  An 80 mile ride and 30 mile.

With spring having officially arrived in Sandpoint Idaho, not only on the calendar but weather as well, the summer activities are beginning.  Many of the events for summer and fall are not the type of events you just decide the day before you want to join in and do.

The Panida Theater in Sandpoint Idaho was built in 1927 by F.C. Weskil in 1927.  Named Panida to represent the location of where it sits..."Panhandle of Idaho".  Built as a Vaudville and Movie House, neglect began taking its toll after many years of success.  Only through Sandpoint Community fund raising was it saved in 1985.  On going fund raising and efforts continue to bring awards to the Panida Theater Sandpoint Idaho, one of which being on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sandpoint Idaho is unique in many different ways.  From Schweitzer Mountain Resort to Downtown Sandpoint at Lake Pend Oreille in about 30 minutes.  Abundant wildlife, sometimes even seeing a moose in Sandpoint City. Rivers and Lakes for fishing, boating, swimming, and playing all near bye.  Biking / Walking paths from one end of the city to the other and beyond.  While there are many specific things to see and do, Downtown Sandpoint Idaho to be Enjoyed No Matter the Season !

WeltanShauung - A noun. One formal definition being: 'A paricular philosophy of life, the worldview of an individual, or group.'  Now when I can properly pronounce this I will use it much more often than "Mission Statement".  I believe when boiled down the two are basically the same.  "Welta the what" will certainly get much more attention though.

There are questions that should be asked if you are planning to move to any snow area, not just Sandpoint Idaho.  I always express, to my out of state buyers, the excellent job that our Highway Crews do in taking care of business during and after snow storms in all of North Idaho.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort Village is located only minutes from Downtown Sandpoint Idaho acting as a backdrop to an already charming city.  Many feel Schweitzer Condo Sales are seasonal.  Much the same as home sales in Sandpoint that is a myth perpetuated by people/agents themselves.  Quarterly sales of Schweitzer Mountain Condos 2013 and 2014 show differently.
The charts show a slight decline in year to year sales (under $500,000.00) although less than 10%.  What is not shown with these charts is the decrease in lower end inventory.

Give me a job and trust me to do it correctly or do not ask me to do it at all.  From the complicated to the basic.  Were I not competent enough to get it done I most likely would not be the one doing the work.  Apparently there are those in North Idaho that did not get the memo or classes.  That would explain why Micro Management is a style from the past, except Naples Idaho.

Idaho is such a warm picturesque town.  Sitting at the base of Selkirk Mountains and at Lake Pend Oreille's shore line.  Do know though, if you do not like changes in the whether season to season or even year to year North Idaho may not be your ideal location to live.    The "Sandpoint Townsquare Christmas Tree" this year, thus far, is without snow for a back drop.

I was excited this morning, as I headed for the office, expecting Sandpoint, Idaho to have received it's first snow of the year.  Naples, Idaho had a little less than an inch and surprisingly heading south will show more snow than north.  I knew just the spot I wanted to take a picture of this "First Snowfall"   
It was not to be.  The weather pattern was opposite of what it normally is.  Naples and Bonners Ferry, Idaho had received more snow, albeit minimal.  The spot I had planned on taking the picture still had a magical feel to it this … (5 comments)
