The National Association of Realtors board of directors voted 729-70 on Monday to ban the controversial practice of “pocket listings.” It’s a practice that was surging in competitive real estate markets such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. It allowed a listing agent to use a multiple listing service to let others know the property was for sale, usually with an informal “coming soon” notice, while not officially sharing the listing and often retaining a full commission. According to the local real estate rumor mill Amazon will be leasing the Saks Fifth Avenue Building at 1001 State Street in Santa Barbara for two million dollars a year. Construction on tenant improvements will begin in early 2019, with tenancy happening by the end of next year according to Austin Herlihy, executive vice president at Radius Commercial Real Estate. The statewide median home price was $591,460 down 1.9% from June and up 7.6% from July of 2017.
