So often reading or watching the new is just down right depressing. But, today I read an article in the local Villager that made me smile. Operation Pets Alive, a nonprofit organization based in The Woodlands organized a "rescue flight" for 22 dogs from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter to New Hampshire to find new homes. According to the article, most of the dogs had been at the shelter since November and where unlikely to find homes anytime soon. By making this trip the dogs will avoid being euthanized. Oak Ridge North is a little city located on the east side of I-45 directly across the interstate from The Woodlands. Its earliest homes date back to the mid 1960's. The neighborhood with its mature trees and over-sized lots reminds me of the neighborhoods of Memorial before they started tearing the homes down to build micro-mansions.
