A GFCI receptacle is different from conventional receptacles.In the event of a ground fault, a GFCI will trip and quickly stop the flow of electricity to prevent serious injury.
Definition of a ground fault: Instead of following its normal safe path, electricity passes through a person's body to reach the ground.For example, a defective appliance can cause a ground fault.
A GFCI receptacle does not protect against circuit overloads,short circuits, or shocks.For example you can still be shocked if you touch bare wires while standing on a non-conducting surface, such as a wood floor.

Are you ready for the hurricane season?I  just finished buying all of my supplies and packing a quick leave bag.I designed my own list after the 05 season.It includes 3 flash lights ,extra batteries,lots of water,food bars,battery powder radio,blankets,work gloves,moist towelettes,rain suite,first aid kit,roll of duct tape,whistle,personal hygiene products(shampoo/body wash,wash cloth,toothbrush and tooth paste,brush,and deodorant).I do have a tool box in my truck that has a verity of tools.The one tool I will not leave with out is my chain saw and gas cans.This is just my opinion on the supplies I will need if my family and I have to leave.I … (1 comments)

Central a/c systems provide comfort cooling by lowering the air temperature and removing the excess moisture.The compressor,condenser,expansion device, and evaporator are the basic components of an a/c system.Refrigerant is used as a cooling medium,that cycles between the components.The refrigerant changes from liquid to gas by applying pressure at the expansion device and removing absorbed heat through the evaporator.The compressor and condenser then changes the gas to liquid.The rule of thumb is one ton of cooling capacity is needed for every 550 square feet.Remember to change the air filter every 8 to 12 weeks for the best performance.Your New Orleans and surrounding parishes home inspector.
