My Haiku hens are growing so big, look at them now! We got 8 chicks two months ago and I posted some pictures of them here in their cozy starter home. It seemed so big and roomy back then. Look at them now! These 8 hens are soon going to need a bigger house. We plan to move them into the chicken coop in another month or so once they are big enough to outsmart any mongoose that comes around. These new chicks will be laying eggs in the spring in Haiku Maui. We're not waiting until spring to get some new chicks, we're getting them started now so we'll have eggs in time for Easter 2018. It takes about 6 months before they start to lay. These are White Rocks and Ameraucanas, and there are many more types of egg laying breeds. Starter home for little chickens, Haiku Maui Somebody in Waikapu had ordered day old chicks and had a lot extra, so my husband picked up 8 about a week ago.
