The solar powered off-grid classroom in Hana Maui is the first of its kind, and was built by the young people of the community as part of a hands-on training program called Ma Ka Hana Ka 'Ike - "in working, one learns". High school kids and recent graduates completed the classroom in time for the fall school session this year. Largest solar panel project in Maui County history is underway This week Mayor Alan Arakawa announced that contracts have been awarded in order to install the largest solar panel project in Maui County history. A wide range of people across the County government supported the idea and made it happen. At least 1,000 photovoltaic panels will be up and running by the end of the year on these County properties on 3 islands (Maui, Molokai and Lanai).
