We saw some lovely tropical flowers today on the monthly Realtor Caravan tour. This one property in Maui Ranch Estates was just loaded with hundreds of pots of plants and flowers. Here's just a sample of the colorful blossoms and foliage that we encountered.

Do you like to garden? While pineapples used to be a big crop here in the islands, you won't find such large areas growing them anymore. But most people will grow a few in their yard by simply planting the cut top from a table fruit. They don't need much care.

It's not often you get to see a classic home like this on Maui's north shore, with the good old fashioned stainless steel double sink that was very state of the art back then. Remember those red formica countertops? In the 60's we used to have the table and chairs that matched that red formica, with the chrome legs and trim band around the edge. That brings back some memories!

Have you ever tried one of those Brazilian Steakhouse events that are becoming popular these days? The Four Seasons Resort in Wailea Maui is now offering this on Friday nights, at their Duo Steak and Seafood Restaurant at the pool level. I had the opportunity to try it out with a group of YELPers. It's indoor/outdor seating with a view of the pool and the sunset, in an oceanfront setting. We were treated royally, as you would expect from a 5-star hotel on Maui.

I've often seen these strange looking trees growing in Kula Maui and wondered what they were, until I learned they are members of the aloe family. You can find them growing upcountry in the cooler climates such as Kula and Makawao.
Apparently you can grow them easily from a cutting that's been allowed to dry out for a week or two first. They prefer a dry well drained soil on a slope, which explains why they like the Kula region.

Electric vehicle charging station in Wailuku Maui HI
With more and more people on Maui driving electric vehicles, there are more charging stations popping up. This one is located in front of the OLD Maui Court House on High St. There are 3 parking stalls dedicated to electric vehicles only. When I got to this parking lot only 1 stall was being used, but in just a few minutes there were 3 Leaf cars plugged in.
As far as I know all charging stations on Maui are still free, to help stimulate more interest and sales of electric cars (EVs). … (8 comments)
