Everyone in Makawao and Upcountry Maui knows about Komoda Store and Bakery. This year marks their 100th anniversary of serving the public. They started out as just a simple coffee shop back in the day way before Starbucks was found on every corner.

Just a quick trip with the Hipstamatic Camera app as we walk through Makawao Maui Hawaii. This cool little town has kept in touch with the past by restoring and preserving the old shops and buildings. The country vibe is alive and well. Rustic and rusty is OK and makes for a lot of charm in these boutique shops. Take a break from any activity and grab a bite. Park your bike or horse a while. I was pleasantly surprised to meet this little fellow this morning, as he was crossing the road. We don't usually find Jackson's Chameleons in this part of Haiku, the Huelo area. We've brought some here in the past and let them go, but that was a really long time ago. This young male can't be very old and was probably born here. Happy July 4th - happy grilling! I just picked up eight boxes of beef from DeCoites Packing House in Makawao Maui, Hawaii. We're going to be having some barbecue this weekend just in time for 4th of July. There's nothing quite like Maui grass-fed hormone free
