Thankful for lau laus - little bundles of goodness on a Hawaiian table Lau laus are so simple - some meat, some leaves, some salt, all wrapped up in ti leaves and steamed for hours. I always forget to take pictures when I'm making them because I get so wrapped up in it. Lau is Hawaiian for leaf, thus lau lau means leaf leaf because of the leaves inside the leaves. There are many variations on the lau lau recipe, and they are all good!
