oceanfront: Speechless Sunday - crispy whole fish at Mama's Fish House

This crispy whole fish at Mama's Fish House was a special of the day a few weeks ago, and was it ever delicious! With the side of Asian style veggies and coconut rice, it really was too much food - and that doesn't happen often for me.
Apparently the trout are raised on a farm in upcountry Maui, in Kula. I had no idea! Perhaps a visit to the fish farm is in order.

During this past Hurricane Lane event that happened in Hawaii in August, it was a good feeling knowing we were completely prepared in so many ways. That's what the seller said when he contacted me 14 days ago. This is a condo that was just bought earlier this year, in a great oceanfront location in Kihei Maui - Luana Kai Resort. It should be easy to sell fast, right?

As I'm updating some links on my eastmaui.com website today I'm noticing the active and pending listings in the different parts of Maui, Hawaii. A few random statistics caught my eye and it's interesting to see that the oceanfront segment of the market has a lot of inventory but very few properties under contract. It appears to be the toughest selling category, but this report does not include condos which is a whole different market.

Have you ever tried one of those Brazilian Steakhouse events that are becoming popular these days? The Four Seasons Resort in Wailea Maui is now offering this on Friday nights, at their Duo Steak and Seafood Restaurant at the pool level. I had the opportunity to try it out with a group of YELPers. It's indoor/outdor seating with a view of the pool and the sunset, in an oceanfront setting. We were treated royally, as you would expect from a 5-star hotel on Maui.

Canada Geese love English Bay in Vancouver B.C.
I'm spending some time up in Vancouver B.C. Canada and the weather has been so great for taking walks along the shore in English Bay. This is a very beautiful and scenic part of Canada, on the west coast, with the ocean and snow capped mountains dominating the natural landscape. The cityscape is something else to see, with towering high rises, harbors and bridges, old and new architecture. It's a dynamic and busy place.

A quick condo sale in Kihei Maui makes my weekend!
I'm not usually one to brag about my sales, but this was a really quick one by Maui standards. With only 2 opportunities to show the unit, due to heavy bookings, it was amazing it went under contract so quickly and sold in just 65 days. It could have been quicker but there were some delays due to buyer and seller being on the mainland and both were doing 1031 exchanges.

Here's a quick report of the real estate market activity in my part of the island, Haiku. It covers a large area and there is so much diversity that it's really hard to make any comparisons, but if you follow the market you might find some interesting bits. While I'm on the topic of celebrity real estate on Maui (see previous blog post about the Maui Brando Estate), it's notable that the oceanfront property of Sammy Hagar just closed a few days ago after being on and off the market for many years. $3,100,000 seems like a pretty good price for 9.8 oceanfront acres with a house and cottage, swimming pool and cabana, a well and solar power system!
