What's been selling up in Kula Maui this year to date? In March, upcountry sales were the biggest chunk of the Maui real estate market (excluding condos) as far as dollar volume goes.
Kula Vacant land sales since January 1, 2015: 27 Puuala St. sold for $26,000 on 1/1/15. Hawaiian Homelands Leasehold .78 acre w/ county water. 122 Kulamanu Circle sold for $310,000 on 4/2/15. Living off the land in Haiku Maui - wild pig for dinner
Sometimes when we visit our cattle ranch on the north shore of Maui, we find some wild pigs running loose and tearing up the pastures. They are such a nuisance really, destroying the nice level ground and digging holes as they root for food. They are a problem all over the island as they spread a lot of invasive plant species wherever they go. So we don't feel bad when we "harvest" a few for the freezer. There is no shortage of these pigs.

I was pleasantly surprised to meet this little fellow this morning, as he was crossing the road. We don't usually find Jackson's Chameleons in this part of Haiku, the Huelo area. We've brought some here in the past and let them go, but that was a really long time ago. This young male can't be very old and was probably born here.
They aren't native to Hawaii but they have adapted well in the upcountry area of Makawao which is not far away, but a higher elevation. They like … (7 comments)
