This cute snowy cabin scene is all the snow I want to see this winter. Over the holidays my dear old dad and I like to do some jigsaw puzzles like this easy one which we knocked out before 2011. It's a family tradition. I think I've had my share of snow after growing up in the prairies of Canada. Winters were long and very white, and often very cold. Snow tops Haleakala Mountain on Maui We got some snow on Maui! And it stayed more than one day this time. On average, we get snow on Maui about every 5 years or so. This time it was quite a lot of snow coverage, much more than the usual dusting. This great shot is by Kevin Ditamore, taken from upcountry Kula Maui. The Maui News reports that the road to the 10,000 ft summit of Haleakala was closed above the 7,000 foot elevation before dawn Monday due to unsafe driving conditions... high winds and ice.
