Find a home in Haiku Maui near the Twin Falls hiking trail
If you know your way around Haiku Maui, you'll know that Huelo is a great place to live.  It's close to the ocean, and there's even a few fisherman trails that will get you down to the water for some fishing or diving.  Huelo is lush and green and you know you're in the countryside, not just some suburb.
Twin Falls Farm Stand and hiking trail is a well known feature along the Hana Highway, at mile marker 2.  Streams and waterfalls abound in Huelo and Haiku, and it's nice … (7 comments)

twin falls maui: Last Fridays in Paia - first time I heard of it - 05/30/08 09:03 PM

Paia Maui Friday evening update
So I was working in Paia at our office, Jim Sanders Realty, and it was a pretty good Friday afternoon...sunny and warm outside, nice and cool inside the office.  I was getting caught up on a lot of things.  During the afternoon I notice some tables going up on the sidewalk outside in front of the Morning Glories Internet Cafe.  I thought it was another weekend blowout sale at the Simmer Style surf shop next door to the cafe.
At the end of the day, I found out that the local artists are … (4 comments)

twin falls maui: Back to Nature - Twin Falls Maui - a tropical excursion in Haiku - 01/29/08 01:38 PM
(This is my contribution to the Back to Nature contest that Christina Williams came up with.  I don't expect it to be an entry that will compete with the others, but wanted to participate for the points!  Good luck to all the other entries!)
Twin Falls Maui
One Sunday my 86 year old dad said to me..."I want to go up to that Twin Falls place and go for a walk, how far is it up to the falls?"  I thought about it for a minute and imagined him up there slipping in some mud and falling, with nobody around to help him … (12 comments)

twin falls maui: Hanzawa Store - Kaupakalua Road - Haiku Maui Hawaii - 12/01/07 08:23 PM

When you're driving around Maui, in Haiku, you'll sooner or later find yourself driving the twisting mountain spine of Kaupakalua Road, the main artery between the upcountry town of Makawao, and the Hana Highway starting point of the historic Millenium Trail.  Going up or down, there aren't many pit stops along the way, and it's really great to come across Hanzawa's, an old fashioned country store.
Hanzawa's Store serves a large community of people in the countryside, from Haiku to Makawao.  It's the only gas station and store for miles around.  Is it any wonder they do a thriving business, selling gas, hot dogs and cold drinks, beer, milk and … (4 comments)

twin falls maui: Twin Falls Maui - hiking and swimming - 10/05/07 09:53 PM

Twin Falls is a different kind of tourist attraction on Maui.  Located on the Hana Highway, at the 2 mile marker, this swimming spot is a popular stop on the famous drive to Hana. Locals and tourists alike come here to cool off on a hot day. There are no signs to let you know you're there, but when you come to the 2 mile marker on Highway 360 keep your eyes open for a parking lot on the right, with a little fruit stand. You can't miss it as there are usually 20 or 30 cars or more parked here … (2 comments)
