No really, it's 3 acres of solid jungle in the middle of almost nowhere, near Hana Maui. It's also a difficult property to sell due to the terrain, which is steep in places, and low in others, so there is a tendency for flooding in heavy rains.

I do an email newsletter, and it started a long time ago when I first got into this real estate business, back in 2000 - that seems like ages ago now. My newsletters then were very simple emails reporting on the new listings that were featured on the Realtor Caravans. Just plain text, with no pictures or even links, in the hopes that every email would get through. I have posted them as blog posts here on Activerain (see sample post).

Yes, it really can happen - that mortgage can be paid off and you can own your home completely. While it seems like 30 years, or even 15 years is such a long time, sooner or later the time passes. If you've behaved, and not pulled all the equity out of your home, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.
We probably all start out with a 30 year mortgage since it's the most affordable option when starting out on the home ownership track. Those 30 years stretch … (12 comments)

Here's a link to a short video taken at Ho'okipa Beach Park, in Paia Maui. The PWA Aloha Classic was on hold because the waves were too big and dangerous. This annual competition pits the best men and women windsurfers in the world. But despite the lack of contestants battling it out on the waves, the beach scene was colorful and interesting, as it usually is.

We're up in Canada for a late summer vacation, when there's fewer bugs and the nights are cool. This is a good time of year to be here, and not just because of the weather. At this time of year there's harvesting to be done, with corn and pumpkins, and potatoes ready to come out of the ground.

If you want an oceanfront home in Kihei Maui, the options are somewhat limited, because much of the coastal real estate is taken up by condominium resorts, and beach parks. South Kihei Road is the main artery along the coastline, and there's a few streets that extend beyond this and offer some neighborhoods with single family homes. Uluniu Rd. is one, and Halama St. is another. Let's see what's happening on Halama St....
Halama Street - runs between Kalama Park to the south, and up to W. Kapu Rd. to the north.

The weather has been pretty nice in Haiku Maui lately so we were able to get the Phantom 4 up in the air for some new aerial footage and snap shots to showcase my oceanfront listing at 460 Hoolawa Rd. You really need to see this from the air to appreciate the outrageous cliff top setting and the dramatic location. This little flying camera does a great job!

Papayas are a favorite tropical fruit around the world.
We are blessed with a bounty of papayas this season, despite the wet winter. It seems the rich soil from the previous veggie garden has made a big difference. So I put together a short 1 minute video to show what the trees look like and how to pick the fruits, since many people have no idea where papayas come from.

This new version went out today and it features a lot of the year-end statistics for Maui County.... residential and vacant land. The plan for 2019 is to send out the e-news twice a month. One time focuses on the stats, and the next time showcases lifestyle. I think it's going to be more fun this way.
