After several years of discussion New York State granted the Town of Greeburgh $43,000 to build a dog park. This dog park officially opened this week and is a state of the art dog park. There is an area for small dogs and there is an area for large dogs. There are trails that dogs will love. This dog park is located in E. Runsbrook Park which is a Town Park and will be maintained by the Town. Private donations are being requested from dog lovers and pet owners. Hilltop Hanover Farm was purchased by Westchester County in 2003 to preserve open space and provide Westchesterites with a place to become educated in environmentally sensitive practices. There are daily school visits, pre and after school programs and summer and vacation programs. There are 134 acres of hiking trails in the forest, trail maps are availabe on the website. The County Center is centrally located and easily accessed by train as it is a short walk from the White Plains train station, or by car. Who would have thought collecting trash could actually be fun? But fun it will be on Saturday, June 28 when kids who bring 100 or more used plastic bags to Playland will receive free rides as their reward. "Plastic Bag Day at Playland" is Westchester County's way of encouraging youngsters to start recycling and cleaning up their environment. Any child who turns in 100 or more used and clean plastic bags at the recycling booth near the park's entrance will receive a Fun Card good for three free rides and a round of miniature golf redeemable any day this season.

In the Westchester Section of the New York Times today is a wonderful article about a wonderful place in Ardsley. I am there at least two - three days a week and consider it to be the best bakery that I am aware of in Westchester County. All of their baked goods, cookies, cakes are just wonderful and not too sweet which is why I like it.
