Confused On Whether The Conforming High-Balance Program Is Temporary? Well, you're not alone. One of the biggest misunderstandings from Realtors (in the High-Cost Areas) I find is they thought that Fannie Mae's High Balance Loan Program will be disappearing at the end-of-the year again. Yes and No is the Answer.
Let me clarify. Fannie Mae implemented the High Balance Loan Program (permanently) for 2009 to Maximum Loan Balances of $625,500; but in March, it was (temporarily) modified to the limits in 2008 ($729,750 Maximum Loan Limit). Remember, it was implemented because it was called, "Conforming Jumbo" in 2008.
