The idea of Father's Day was conceived slightly more than a century ago, not by Hallmark Card or Weber Grills, but by Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Wash., while she listened to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father,  William Smart, a widowed Civil War veteran born in June who was left to raise his six children on a farm. The first Father's Day celebration was June 19, 1910, but the presidential proclamation didn't come until 1966 when President Lyndon Johnson designated the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Wendy's/Arby's Group has cut a deal to "unload" most of its Arby's chain on private-equity firm Roark Capital Group in a deal valued at $430 million.
