Just a Few Facts About Owensboro,Kentucky ~Owensboro,KY is the third largest city in KY. ~was voted by Sports Illustrated as "Best Sports Town in Kentucky" ~Owensboro was named after Colonel Abraham Owen. (his name was actually shortened) ~Owensboro is located in the crook of the bend in the Ohio River and known as The "Yellow Banks." ~Has operated under a City Manager form of government since 1954. (Hey! that's older than me!) ~considers itself The BBQ Capitol of the World.
