Look out for bigger and better pyrotechnics at this annual bash!!!   The Hype, a southeast Valley band that plays original songs, classic rock and Top 40 covers, headlines the entertainment, stick around and enjoy the tunes.  Sign up for the hot-dog-eating contest, bike parade and hula-hoop competition. Area restaurants and bars will serve food at the marketplace, and there will be a kids area.

arizona: Things to do...Bearizona in Williams, Arizona - 06/13/11 10:23 AM

As most of you know, summer is somewhat hard to get through when you have kids and yet, a lot of fun...it's when we take the time to smell the roses!
We spent Memorial Day weekend in Williams Arizona.  Williams is a quaint little historic town just off the I-40 in Northern Arizona on route 66.  Williams reminds me of the Disney movie 'Cars.'  :) iit's just that cute!
Bearizona is a wildlife park that you drive-thru...we loved it so much, we dubbed it 'Jurassic Park.'  Basically it reminds me of Jurassic Park.

100th Anniversary Events
Salt River Project (SRP), the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Forest Service mark the 100th anniversary of Theodore Roosevelt Dam on this Friday (3/18) and Saturday(3/19).
Friday (3/18) events are invitation-only and will include the opening of a time capsule placed at the dam in 1961 during a celebration of the 50th anniversary.
Saturday (3/19) events are  open to the public.
Visitors will be able to walk across the dam, which is usually closed to the public. The dam offers magnificent views of Roosevelt Lake and the Salt River.
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Over the last weekend, Arizona had some pretty good rain...yippee for us!  :)  You see that is about the jist of our winter weather here in Phoenix...but the best part about the rain is, the desert is in bloom!  :)

On my son’s field trip this morning, we went to the Arizona State Capital Building and toured the museum, state monuments and also the Senate Building.
Because I am an Arizona transplant, coming from Colorado, it was nice learning the history of Arizona…these are the 6 flags that have been flown throughout Arizona’s lifetime!  I have to apologize, I wish that I had remembered to take a photo of the history documented of each flag…
