real estate: Organic Gardening Tip: Grass Clippings
- 02/21/08 10:40 PM
I recently read Christina Williams' excellent blog, "Organic Weeding Tip...", about using newspaper in a garden to prevent weeds in an effort to be organic instead of using chemicals to kill weeds. I just wanted to share another alternative that I've been using for years. I use grass clippings. After cutting your grass, lay your grass clippings around your flowers or vegetable plants about 1-2 inches thick, then water thoroughly, especially during the summer. The water and heat will keep your soil moist (requiring less watering) while preventing most weeds from coming through. Periodically till the clippings into the soil, perhaps with other (3 comments)
real estate: Realtors: What If Being An Agent Was A Salaried Position?
- 02/06/08 06:30 AM
There are many reasons we all became agents, but I had a thought I wanted to share, and I'd like your thoughts. If being a real estate agent were a salaried position, in other words - no commission, (1) would you still be a full-time agent?... (2) what would be an acceptable salary for you to do this job?... and (3) what parameters would need to be in place for you to accept it as a salaried position? For myself, I honestly don't know, but I'm curious what others think about it. (2 comments)
real estate: Maryland: An Abundance of Available Condos in Frederick
- 10/24/07 04:17 AM
Prior buyers' markets have shown that the condo sector will often take the brunt of the market slowdown. The results are reflected in the reduction of prices, along with units staying on the market for longer periods of time prior to selling. For the owners who need to sell their condo, key things to remember for this market include: (1) PRICING - even a nice unit slightly overpriced will sit on the market for a while; (2) presentation - clean, uncluttered rooms with neutral decor; and (3) a dedicated agent who will create buzz about the unit through effective marketing and showings. real estate: Baltimore City: Still a Strong Market
- 09/17/07 03:02 PM
The Baltimore market is still a hot one. It has been, and still is, the most undervalued market in Maryland, and investors recognize that it's still a worthwhile area for purchasing properties. Moreover, the demand has enabled several Baltimore neighborhoods to actually gain in value while most markets have lost value. Baltimore City has become a hot commodity, and it will continue to get better. Why? Baltimore is only an hour north of Washington DC, and nearly two hours south of Philadelphia. It is ideally situated to address growing demand from companies looking to position themselves for domestic and international opportunities. (0 comments)

How we dress says a lot to those who see us. Growing up, my parents always insisted that we dress neatly and appropriately for any occassion. It was critical to show that we could present ourselves appropriately in different settings and be respected for who we are each time. We were never drawn into famous brand name items because cost was always a consideration. Yet we were always dressed nicely and our clothes were always clean and neat. Today, I find that many people don't seem to have a good sense about dressing appropriately for an occassion. I've attended professional networking functions (2 comments)
