halifax realtors: Real estate agents vs REALTOR®: an often used misnomer

It may seem like it is just terminology but it is an often used misnomer for which industry members risk being fined should they use the term incorrectly. Industry Members are licensed by the Real Estate Commission as salesperson, associate brokers, managing associated brokers, & brokers. Industry members are not licensed REALTORS®. Being a REALTOR® means you are a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association ( CREA ) at a national level & the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS® ( NSAR ) or the Annapolis Valley Real Estate Board ( AVREB ) at a provincial level. Standard Agreements are written to protect the public In NS, we are fortunate to have well written, by lawyers with input from industry members, standard agreement forms of purchase & sale for various types of residential properties, the use of which is mandatory in our industry. The use of these standard agreement forms make writing & responding to offers easier, less risky for the parties involved, & less time consuming than if each agreement was drafted from scratch.
