The 128th annual Tournament of Roses Parade is now in the history books. South Pasadena with the oldest self-built float in the parade showed people that even though it didn’t win an official award the community spirit is very much alive in this city.
This year’s entry “Never Give Up” had about 85% or more of the surface area covered with fresh flowers(according to the organization’s Facebook page). The other percentage was comprised of dry decorating(bark and seeds). Lots of last minute placement of flowers in vials ensured that the (26 comments)
Yesterday, I went to check out progress for the city of South Pasadena’s float entry in the 128th annual Tournament of Roses Parade. You can see my previous report by clicking here for the post. The float site is in and around a tent adjacent to the South Pasadena War Memorial Building at 435 Fair Oaks Avenue. South Pasadena has the oldest self-built float in the parade(and one of only six self-built floats in the parade out of 40 entries this year).

Another visit to a location just behind the South Pasadena War Memorial Building revealed more progress on the city’s self-built float entry for the 126th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade on Thursday, January 1, 2015. South Pasadena has the oldest self-built float in the parade(and one of only seven self-built floats in the parade out of 41 entries this year).

On Thursday, January 1, 2015 hundreds of thousands of people on the streets of Pasadena along with millions of people worldwide watching on television will see floats, marching bands and equestrian units walk down Colorado Boulevard for the 126th Tournament of Roses Parade.
This week, I went to the site behind the Veteran's War Memorial on Fair Oaks Avenue where the float is being constructed to see progress for the float by the city of South Pasadena.
