Auld Lang Syne Since New Year's eve is just around the corner, I was just thinking about this song and started to wonder why we sing it in the first place. So I did some research and here's what I found from Wikipedia: "Auld Lang Syne" is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song.
