Athens, GA has some great places to celebrate romance.  Valentine's Day is just around the corner so I thought I'd share a few of our favorite places and things for romance in and around Athens, Georgia.
Oh dear goodness, the pop up menu for Valentines Day 2016 at LRG Provisions is....well...many of the things I LOVE! Can you say lobster bisque, charred corn grits, lavender creme brulee.  Oh dear goodness, I want both menu options.  Good thing they are serving this several days!  If you make this your pick, reservations are definitely needed.

athens ga: Losing Sleep thinking about a Possible Foreclosure? We may be able to help! - 03/22/12 02:34 PM

Are you losing sleep at night, worrying about your house payment and the possibility of foreclosure?
Over 7 million homeowners in the U.S. are in default on their mortgage and more than half of them are not aware of the programs and options that are available to help them avoid foreclosure.  Many are not familiar with Loan Modification programs offered by their bank.
Others may qualify for a Athens, GA area Short Sale that allows you to list and sell your home for its current market value—even if you’re upside down—and the bank forgives the unpaid portion of your … (0 comments)

athens ga: Athens, Georgia - Finally Fall? - 10/20/08 07:06 AM
We may not be loaded with color like the North Georgia mountain area, yet...but it is finally beginning to feel like fall in Athens, GA!  We went from spring like weather with highs in the mid 80's to waking up to 39 degree temperatures this morning and seeing much much needed rain over the past few days.  The leaves are finally turning!  Below is one of the prettiest I've seen yet this year (found by son & girlfriend a couple of days ago in the front yard).

This leaf is so pretty, it got to come inside for some more … (4 comments)

athens ga: They're Back! The University of Georgia students descend on Athens, GA! - 09/10/08 07:40 AM
Rush Week is over, but this is what Milledge Avenue in Athens, Georgia - home of sorority & fraternity row, looked like a few days back, I did my best to avoid running over giggling girls and goo-goo eyed boys but it was hard, as they have a propensity to step off the sidewalk right in front of you!

I love driving down Milledge Avenue and seeing the gorgeous examples of architecture but it is a challenge at certain times of the year - like UGA football game days and Rush Week.

Welcome to Athens, Georgia new UGA students!  … (2 comments)

Colbert, Georgia in Madison County was the place to be at 9am this 4th of July!  Over 10,000 people were expected to be at the 4th of July parade and festival and I think at least that many showed up!  The parade time was moved from 10am to 9am this year due to the heat and everyone got the word.  Highway 72, East was closed for the duration of the parade through Colbert as everyone lined the streets to see classic cars, septic tank trucks, horses and more!  The parade was huge this year!

athens ga: Navy School Redevelopment, Athens GA - It's Official! - 06/04/07 07:10 AM
The Athens-Clarke board made it offical Monday regarding turning over the Navy Supply Corps School campus on Prince Avenue in Athens, Georiga to the University of Georgia.  The Navy School Local Redevelopment Authority (LRA) voted unanimously to approve a plan to turn the Navy school into a medical campus.
Several members accused UGA of secrecy and said they should be held accountable for what they build on the Prince Avenue base.  The agreement gives Athens-Clarke officials and neighborhood residents no power to approve of any changes UGA might make to its plans, UGA is only required to inform two Local Redevelopment Authority  members of any changes.

athens ga: Memorial Day 5/28/2007 - A Prayer For Peace! - 05/20/07 05:28 PM
Monday, May 28th, 2007 is Memorial Day.  Many look upon this as the first long weekend of the summer - time to head to the lake, the mountains or where ever you enjoy spending your long  weekends! Memorial Day  was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country.
My grandfather, Mr. Robert Chandler Ray, proudly served in World War II in the 134th Infantry Regiment.  On Memorial Day, he grows quiet as he thinks of the companions, friends and family he lost during the war.  I am blessed to have … (3 comments)

Known as the "Marigold Capital of Georgia" and "The Friendship City", Winterville, Georgia is also the "other" town in incorporated Athens-Clarke County Georgia!  Winterville is the only incorporated municipality located entirely within Athens-Clarke County and is situated about 6 miles from "downtown Athens".
Winterville began as a "Railroad Town" for the Georgia Railroad and was a wood & water refueling station.  The Winterville depot has been restored and is the site of many community functions and can be rented for private events. Today, Winterville, Georgia offers small town, community living and is a very short commute to the central center of economics, … (2 comments)

Neal Bloom's Man's best friend brought up a subject that is hard to discuss, that of euthanasia for sick pets and when it should take place and how to react after you make that decision.  I had to make that very difficult decision not once, but twice last year and am still grieving.
