los angeles home stager: Real Estate Staging Association RESA-PRO Designation - What's In It For Me? - 02/16/10 12:40 AM
I recently announced that I had earned the RESA-PRO designation here and here. I think the RESA-PRO designation is a valuable tool for both home stagers and for homeowners and real estate agents that are thinking about hiring a home stager.

Hiring a home stager with a RESA-PRO designation is important for homeowners and real estate agents because:
You're hiring a home stager that is a well qualified professional You're hiring a home stager that is held to higher standards You're hiring a home stager that is held to a higher ethics standard You're hiring a home stager that has … (16 comments)

los angeles home stager: This Los Angeles Home Stager is a RESA-PRO. Are You? - 02/14/10 10:34 AM
I've earned the RESA-PRO designation. Yay! I've met all the requirements, passed all the tests, and now I have the right to use the RESA-PRO badge on my website. As a home stager in Los Angeles, a very competative market, RESA-PRO gives me a competative advantage. The RESA-PRO designation proves that I am experienced, I am professional, I am ethical, I am insured and I recognize the importance of continuing my education.

RESA-PRO home stagers:
Must adhere to the Real Estate Staging Association Code of Ethics Must pass the RESA Ethics Exam with a score of 80% or higher Must … (16 comments)

los angeles home stager: The Pope Is Using Social Media - Shouldn't You? - 02/08/10 02:15 AM

I was reading a post about Google & SEO on WebProNews when I saw a link to a story about the Pope using social media The Pope Urges Priest to Get On The Blogsphere.
I learned the Pope has a FaceBook app (application), a Vatican YouTube Channel, a website P2Y (Pope To You) and an iPhone app (available in 8 languages). I was unable to find Pope Benedict XVI on Twitter (at least not the real Pope) but I'm sure we will see it soon.
I'm not Catholic, nor particularly religious. But with all due respect, Pope Benedict XVI has … (20 comments)

los angeles home stager: How I Got A New Client Today - 01/21/10 08:23 AM
I got a Los Angeles home staging job today, and it was one of the easiest jobs I have ever gotten. I did not know the agent - I had never worked with her or met her before. She got my name from another Realtor in her office who receives my email newsletter. This Realtor was looking for a home stager in Los Angeles because she was listing one of her own investment properties. She knew the fastest way to get it sold was to stage it.

What did I do to get this job so easily?
I responded to … (25 comments)

los angeles home stager: When I blog, who benefits? Many people, maybe even you! - 11/01/09 07:42 AM
When I blog, who benefits? Many people, maybe even you!

1)If you're a listing agent and I've staged one of your listings, I've probably blogged about it here on AR and on my home staging website. I've displayed photos of the listing and I've included your contact information, including a link to your website, if you have one. That's lots of additional exposure for your listing, you and your website. Here are some examples of posts I've done about the properties I've staged recently:

los angeles home stager: How My Home Staging Company Gets Found On Google - 10/20/09 09:41 AM
Getting more traffic to my website is very important to me. I have seen a direct correlation in how much business I get vs. how easily my company is found on Google. Since more than 75% of my web traffic comes from Google, that's where I concentrate my efforts, but paying attention to Google search terms will translate over to searches for Yahoo, Bing, Ask and other search websites.
I was just reviewing the blog statistics for my Los Angeles Home Staging Blog.Besides daily visitor count and what pages visitors click on, it also tells me what search terms people used … (26 comments)

los angeles home stager: Model Home Staging For A Los Angeles Real Estate Auction - 2nd Unit - 10/19/09 02:43 PM
As I wrote in an earlier post Home Staging A Condo For A Los Angeles Real Estate Auction Company , Moving Mountains Design staged 2 Los Angeles condos last week for a real estate auction company.
Both condo developments we staged the models for are new construction and are vacant. The auction company had rented a few pieces of furniture on their own, but didn't feel that the small amount of furniture made the model home units more appealing. They hired Moving Mountains Design to do a full model home staging of all 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a home office … (10 comments)

I recently set up a Facebook fan page for my Los Angeles home staging company and I'm starting to populate it with useful home staging information and posts about Los Angeles and Pasadena real estate. I'm adding my home staging before and after pictures in photo albums.

I've found both Facebook and Twitter are very effective in driving traffic to my website and blog.

los angeles home stager: Staging a Los Angeles Condo For A Real Estate Auction Company - 10/18/09 10:02 AM
This week we staged 2 Los Angeles condos for a real estate auction company.
This was the first time they had worked with a home stager and this was the first time I had worked with a real estate auction company. I think its a match made in heaven. The condos they will be auctioning look 100% better now that they've been staged by Moving Mountains Design. Having a more desirable product to auction should create greater urgency to bid resulting in more units sold and higher prices paid.
Here are photos of the Pacoima condo before and after … (15 comments)

los angeles home stager: Seeing Red In Home Staging Photos - 09/07/09 02:31 PM
We all know the importance of having eye-catching MLS photos. I'm all about taking great photos for my Los Angeles home staging clients. Beautiful, eye catching home staging photos accomplish 2 things:
They showcase the house to appeal to the greatest number of buyers on the MLS and in marketing materials. If my photos get them in the door, then the listing agent has a better chance of selling the home. They showcase my ability as a home stager on my home staging website and in my portfolio Lately, I've been using red accessories, throw pillows and bedding more and more because … (49 comments)

los angeles home stager: Arcadia Luxury Estate Slide Show - 08/04/09 12:37 PM
Here is a flash slide show for the luxury Arcadia home staged by Los Angeles home staging company Moving Mountains Design recently. For those that didn't read the original post, the house was sold and escrow closed 29 days after staging in July 2009.
Create a free slideshow with Picnik! The flash slide show is a new premium service provided by Picnik.com. I really like the high quality of the photographs, and the ability to customize the speed of the slide show and whether or not you want a straight slide show, or documentary style, like the one above. los angeles home stager: Model Home Staging a Pasadena Townhome - 06/08/09 03:19 PM
Model Home Staging A Pasadena Townhome
A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by a very upset Pasadena builder. It seems the home staging company they had hired earlier, had sent them an email that they would not be able to stage the builder's model the following week. She asked if I would be able to stage a model home in time for the scheduled open house and do it within their budget. Of course I said yes!

los angeles home stager: Los Angeles Home Stager - Staging A Pasadena Rental - 05/21/09 03:40 PM
Do smart landlords and property managers hire a home stager to stage Los Angeles rentals?

Yes, because they understand the value of having a beautiful guest house, apartment, condo or townhouse to show prospective tenants. It works the same way as home staging when selling a home. The better the rental looks, the more tenants you will have to choose from. Nicer people want and will be attracted to a nicer place to live. It’s that simple.
As a smart landlord myself, and a professional home stager in Los Angeles, I … (18 comments)

los angeles home stager: Los Angeles Home Staging Altadena Spanish Cottage Staged and Sold! - 05/17/09 03:59 AM
A few weeks ago we staged this lovely Altadena Spanish Revival home. Altadena is an unincorporated city located in Los Angeles County. The home had been on the market for more than 2 months with no offers before staging.
I'm happy to report that this Altadena home is now in escrow less that 3 weeks after staging (there was an earlier offer that fell out), with multiple offers!

As you can see, the home had some furniture in it before it was staged. The owner had attempted to stage it themselves with whatever furniture they had on hand. While … (15 comments)

los angeles home stager: Los Angeles Home Stager - Home Stager as Miracle Worker - 05/02/09 10:31 AM
A couple of weeks ago, I was called to a house in Altadena, CA for a home staging consultation. We were hired to stage the home, but it wasn't your typical Los Angeles home staging...Staging Intervention (or Stagervention as my friend Laurie March likes to call it) was more like it. My assistants, Melissa and Michelle, worked on the house with me over the course of two weeks (including painting and repairs). Besides the paint crew, the carpenter and electrician, there were also 2 movers from the moving company (to move excess items into storage) and 2 furniture movers from Brook … (28 comments)

los angeles home stager: Los Angeles Home Stager - Altadena Spanish Cottage Staged Inexpensively - 04/26/09 10:57 AM
Add one Los Angeles home stager plus a fantastic 1928 Altadena Spanish Colonial Revival in (with an entry courtyard), the homeowners furniture, plus a few rented pieces of furniture, a Persian rug and some staging accessories et voila!
An interesting note about this lovely cottage: It was built and designed by Anna P Latham, one of the first women to be licensed as a building contractor in California. In 1928!
