I am frequently asked, by the real estate agents I work with, how to make their listing, which is on the small size, look larger to appeal to more buyers. As a professional house stager in Pasadena and Los Angeles, one of my primary jobs is to make smaller homes feel larger, or at least, feel as large as they really are.
Here's a list of my tips for making a small home feel larger. You can use these tips whether you are staging a home to sell or if you are planning to stay, but just need some … (21 comments)

los angeles home staging: Home Staging For Real Estate Investors - 08/10/11 05:08 PM
Sell your real estate investment properties faster and for a higher price!
How? Have your investment real estate staged by professional home stagers at Moving Mountains Design.
As a wise real estate investor, you know you have to spend a little money to make even more money. Home staging has been proven to help homes sell faster than unstaged home, usually for a higher price. In one study, published by the Real Estate Staging Association, staged homes sold 74% faster after they were staged than when they were unstaged. That resulted in lower holding costs and less time wasted, which equals … (15 comments)

los angeles home staging: Los Angeles Home Stagers - Staging a Contemporary Hollywood Condo - 09/01/10 06:09 PM
Today we staged a terrific Hollywood Bowl adjacent condo for a Beverly Hills real estate investment company. This beautifully renovated Los Angeles condo has granite counters, new cabinets, new stainless appliances and new flooring throughout. We love contemporary home staging and we really got to exercise our contemporary home staging muscles today.

We must have done something right because I got a phone call tonight from one of the project managers asking if I had time to look at another condo unit that they want to put on the market next week!

los angeles home staging: Los Angeles Home Staging A Beautiful Walnut Home - 08/12/10 04:37 PM
Last week we staged this Walnut home for a San Gabriel Valley real estate investor. This house has beautiful landscaping, including a gazebo, koi pond with footbridge leading to the front door and a pool. The outside is eye-catching and enticing. The interior, while very nicely remodeled, needed the help of a experienced professional home stager to show potential home buyers how they could fit their lifestyle into this very comfortable and spacious Walnut home. We have been getting more and more requests for home staging in Walnut, and since this is a real estate flipper and a REALTOR I work … (14 comments)

We recently completed staging this very chic and modern condo loft in Valley Village, Los Angeles. My clients are real estate investors who understand the added value that home staging brings to any real estate listing. Since I've staged several condos and model homes in Pasadena and Glendale for themthey've experienced first hand that home staging will help their listings sell faster and for more money. As a Los Angeles home stager, I have to be familiar with all areas of the Los Angeles area and understand who the buyers are and what they are looking for. This loft style condo … (19 comments)

los angeles home staging: Los Angeles Home Staging a Distinctly Darling Classic Larchmont Cottage - 06/21/10 02:39 AM
This Los Angeles home stager had a busy week last week with all the stagings and destagings. I'm excited to have been able to stage this classic Larchmont Village cottage just a block away from Larchmont Blvd. in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles. I initially did a consultation including paint colors. The home went into escrow before we were able to stage it, then fell out. I'm very sorry it didn't sell, but I'm happy we had the opportunity to stage it. 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite) and 3 bathrooms, French doors opening on to the patio and pool, privacy … (14 comments)

los angeles home staging: Los Angeles Home Stager Gets Crafty With Silk Flowers & Succulents - 06/20/10 04:35 PM
As a top notch Los Angeles home stager, my clients expect me to bring beautiful, realistic silk, faux or fake flower arrangements to use in their homes or listings. While most people would prefer live plants, due to the expense and need to maintain them, it is not always realistic to use live plants. Here's photos of 2 arrangements that I made to use in this Larchmont Village Hancock Park home staging project this week.

I really enjoy creating these plant and flower arrangements. It allows me to create exactly what I want and need for my home staging … (15 comments)

los angeles home staging: 5 Tips For Keeping Your Home Safe While Its On The Market - 05/19/10 04:45 AM
It's important to play it safe when your Los Angeles home is on the market. You will have all manner of people- real estate agents, potential buyers and looky-loos- trooping through your house during open houses and showings. While I like to assume the best about people, I also think its important to play it safe.
Here's 5 tips for safety while your home is on the market: Lock up or hide all prescription medications. They are usually expensive, easy to sell on the street and are a prime target for thieves. Lock up or hide personal papers or bills. Don't … (11 comments)

los angeles home staging: Home Staging Works No Matter Your Price Point! - 05/18/10 05:42 AM
I'm here to tell you, home staging works no matter your price point! Here's 2 homes we staged in the past 2 months:
Listed at $225,000, this Pasadena Affordable Housing condo (64 Mar Vista #115) sat on the market for almost 3 years before staging. We staged it in March and it's now about to close escrow, 60 days later! We've destaged this unit and staged another to help with a faster sale on that one too.

We staged this Beverly Hills luxury home, listed for $6.9 M in April. They received an offer after the first week on the … (13 comments)

los angeles home staging: Cleaning For A Reason - Helping Women With Cancer - 05/07/10 03:06 AM
I just read this blog post by Jay Schmidt, a Prudential Realtor in Gettysburg, PA, titled Cleaning for a Reason - Helping Women Undergoing Cancer Treatment.  His post briefly discussed an organization called Cleaning For A Reason.Their tag line is "We focus on your home so you can focus on your health (TM)".

los angeles home staging: My Favorite Home Staging Vignette Photo - What's Yours? - 05/05/10 03:51 AM
I got such a good response when I posted My Favorite Home Staging Photo - What's Yours? That I decided to try it again. This time the question is "what is your favorite home staging vignette photo?"
I have a a couple of favorites:

This photo was from a home staging in Valley Village

This was a vignette I created just for my Los Angeles home staging website (in my home)
Please post a photo (or more) of your favorite home staging vignette.

los angeles home staging: My Favorite Home Staging Photo - What's Yours? - 04/22/10 06:27 AM
I was asked by a reporter today, of all my home staging photos, which was my favorite. She didn't want to know which was my favorite project. She wanted to know which home staging photo I liked the best. I reviewed my home staging portfolio and I chose this one:

This was the livingroom of a home I staged in Los Angeles (Valley Village). It was a very nice cottage, but really nothing about it really stood out, as home staging projects go. I didn't have a lot of time to choose the rug, so I chose this one, which … (36 comments)

los angeles home staging: Los Angeles Home Stager Gets Crafty With Silk Flowers - 04/19/10 08:03 AM
Over the years I've been a home stager, I collected boxes of silk flowers, plants, shells, rocks and moss to use in my home stagings in Pasadena, Los Angeles and Arcadia. Usually I just stick the silk flowers in a vase as I would with fresh flowers. I stick ferns around the base of my silk trees to fill in the opening between the decorative pot and the base of the plant.
Well, yesterday I decided to get crafty and make some silk flower arrangements to use in upcoming home staging projects. We've been really busy staging large homes, which eat … (23 comments)

los angeles home staging: Los Angeles Home Stagers - Hancock Park Luxury Home Staging - 04/12/10 05:42 AM
This past week, Los Angeles home stagers Moving Mountains Design, took on a big, beautiful Hancock Park luxury home. I initially was hired for a home staging consultation, as the home owners wanted to tone down their personal design style and make the home appealing to a wider audience. Don't get me wrong...every thing they owned was beautiful (they are art collectors), there was just too much of it. And being artistic types, the homeowners' furnishing taste was eclectic, in a very architecturally traditional home. My goal was to showcase the home's best architectural feautures without losing the joie de vivre … (10 comments)
