craigslist: So, Craigslist kills HTML to stem abuse? Time for the beloved QR Code! - 12/08/13 06:24 AM
Yep.  If Craigslist will not allow links, it is QR Code time.

Here's my CL ad for a sweet little rancher in Northclift, 5807 Windham Drive, Raleigh NC 27609
The QR Code takes you to my photo tour and other details.
It is unfortunate that there has been so much abuse of the Craigslist TOS by the ethical and self-regulated Real Estate community, abuse which helped motivate Craigslist to rein in HTML useage.  But, that is where we find ourselves.
I don't think for a moment that consumers will copy and paste links nearly as often as they will click on them.  … (14 comments)

craigslist: If You think Short Sales and Foreclosures are Crazy, Welcome to the Wild West: Buying an iPad on Craigslist! - 03/14/11 10:20 AM
I've been perusing the Raleigh edition of Craigslist for an iPad. Craigslist is where I go when I want to peek at stuff, but am not married to the outcome. It is great to be an elective shopper on Craigslist, with no urgency, as Craigslist never comes off as totally civilized. I don't NEED an iPad, but I have a little itch I may scratch under the right circumstances. But, I'm not going to hock the farm to scratch that iPad itch. There seems to be a pretty good spread between the Bid and Ask on Craigslist, whether you are talking … (7 comments)

craigslist: Carolina Hurricanes Home Opener, 10/27/2010: Where will you be when the puck drops? - 10/13/10 02:00 AM
Carolina Hurricanes Home Opener, 10/27/2010:  Where will you be when the puck drops?
Having just scored a bargain ticket, I will be there.  And I expect a full house, so traffic in Raleigh and Cary and getting in and out of the RBC Center at evening drive time should be a carnival all its own.
Television just will not be good enough...

One of the toughest things for a ticket purchaser who hasn't been to a Canes' game is getting a good idea of the view from the seat.  Lots of folks say "There isn't a bad seat in the house."  … (4 comments)

craigslist: Craigslist Under New Ownership? Ad "Flagged for Removal" by Lynda Foxy @ Comcast! - 08/10/10 03:02 AM
"Flagged for Removal!"  Or not.
This one turned up in the Spam Filter, and that alone made me suspicious.  And since I was blackballed on CraigsList several years ago, I am a little sensitive to losing my posting privileges.
But, check out the two new URLs for Craigslist, with the space between "htt" and "p."  "Danger, Will Robinson!"
Click those links and you may discover that Craigslist is now property of Comcast, and monitored by Lynda Foxy;
Here's the URL those two addresses in the "notification" scam will take you to:

Hmmmm....

craigslist: Cary, NC: Beware the Craigslist Rental Scams - 02/09/10 12:17 AM
The message below was forwarded to me by a very nice young lady who had called about renting an Active For Sale listing I have.IF it was for rent, and it is NOT, market rental would be in the $1300-$1500/month range.
The Scammers put it on Craigslist at $800/month.That is a clue.  "If it looks too good to be true, it usually is."
I like the lease terms:  "As long as you wish."Yep, once we steal your $700 deposit, you can have the place forever.  If you can convince the rightful owner to move out.
The sad thing is, people fall … (14 comments)

craigslist: Craigslist Rental Scam - 03/02/09 12:24 PM
The neverending list of scams in the Raleigh area real estate section in CraigsList is quite impressive.
Renting someone else's home out to an unsuspecting sincere prospective tenant just to steal the deposit money is another new low.
Actually, this happened to a coworker in our Cary Keller Williams Realty office.  We found her rental home listed on Craigslist where the scammer had copied and pasted the photo from Rent.com.
The email address was apparently real: her full name and a yahoo email address.  And when she was painting at the house in Raleigh, and cleaning up the yard, she noticed that people were driving … (6 comments)

craigslist: Personally selected by Craigslist. Or not? - 12/16/08 11:53 PM
I guess I'm going to get rich, or richer, in real estate.
See, I have been personally and passively "...pre-selected...based on my career and personal achievements..." by a job ad on Craigslist.  My chest swells with pride!  To be a recognized as a standout in the Raleigh-Cary area!
This internet thing sure must be the wave of the future, Mom!
From Raleigh/Durham Craigslist:We are looking for persons who have the desire to help other people and have the ability to build long-term relationships with other like minded individuals. Our team is national - THIS POSITION HAS JUST EXPANDED TO YOUR AREA. This … (21 comments)

craigslist: "Free Advertising. EBay's Kijiji vs. Craigslist and BackPage" - 07/04/07 01:22 AM
EBay has jumped into the online advertising game with Kijiji.  Kijiji appears to be a concerted attempt to compete directly with Craigslist and BackPage, another Craigslist knockoff.
I'm continually looking for someone to do what Craigslist does, only better.
BackPage seems to have a better, "easier on the eyes," interface, better photo hosting, and easier ad placement.   Also, I like to be able to pay a nominal fee to have an ad featured and also rotated to the top of the page on a weekly basis.  But BackPage only allows email contact through their anonymizer.   I have to put my email address … (39 comments)
