simcoe county: Most Barrie area fruits and vegetables are at their peak in August - 08/15/09 02:42 PM
 

We are at the peak of our local growing season here in Simcoe County. Area produce can be had in many grocery stores, farmers markets and road side stands. Make a point to seek out our locally grown foods and at the same time support our local economy. Nothing better than the fresh summer corn available right now.

The Federal and Provincial governments have provided the County of Simcoe with $1.026 million funding to provide down payment assistance to a minimum of 118 households under the Homeownership component of the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program. The funding provides down  payment  assistance to moderate income individuals and families giving them the opportunity to move from rental accommodation to homeownership.

The County of Simcoe's Social Housing Department is taking part in the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program's (AHP) Homeownership Program as a way of providing down payment assistance to moderate income individuals and families giving them the opportunity to move from rental accommodation to homeownership. 
The AHP has committed $1.026 million to the County of Simcoe.
The Homeownership component of the AHP provides up to 5 per cent in down-payment assistance to 118 households to aid them in purchasing a new house at or below $208,000.
