college station texas: Texas Aggie Ladies Win NCAA! - 04/05/11 04:12 PM
I needed the cardiac electric paddles a few minutes ago. I have been watching Texas Aggie basketball for 40 years and can never remember a moment that I was more proud of Aggie athletes than tonight! The Aggie ladies basketball team just won the National Championship! Whoop! They deserved it so badly. Coach Gary Blair is one of the classiest guys I have ever seen coach. And the team players are all the best there are. Gig em Aggies!!

college station texas: More Positive News For College Station Texas! - 09/14/10 03:42 PM
Just as we are seeing a little downturn in our area ....some more great news about Texas A and M  surfaces!  Apparently The University ranks second nationally in a recent study where large companies , governmental agencies, and non-profits rated schools on how prepared and most ready to succeed their graduates were. Texas  A and M was only second to Penn State.   That is pretty great news considering almost 500 firms and entities participated in the survey! This news combined with the quickly growing Biotech Corridor and the new Heath Sciences College, should eventually combine to all help ensure that long term growth and prosperity … (10 comments)

college station texas: Giant 1.7 Million Pound Generator Moves Through College Station - 01/23/10 01:50 PM
Today,  I took a chance to observe the 1.7 million pound  ( 850 tons) power  generator that is moving through the Bryan-College Station area on Hwy 6.  They say it moves about a mile an hour!  The trailer it rides on is 100 yards long and 38 feet wide!  Yes, I  took a chance and did get caught in a traffic jamb of rubber neckers in the opposite lane of the machine , but it was worth it to get a look at this modern marvel! The generator is headed to be installed in a power plant in Riesel Texas. There … (14 comments)

college station texas: The Carnival's In Town! The Carnival's In Town! - 11/23/09 03:35 PM
I cannot tell you when was the last time I went to a real live carnival ....but I can say it was easily 25 years ago.  Growing up even years before that it was always an exciting prospect to hear that the Carnival was in town, especially back then when Bryan College Station Texas was so much smaller. I can remember however, losing a lot of one dollar bills at a particular shooting gallery where you shoot a small rifle at a row of metal ducks on a conveyor belt and I remember catching the operator of that booth cheating.  He ran me … (11 comments)

college station texas: Aggies Beat The Bears! - 11/21/09 01:34 PM
We were not able to make the game today in College Station but wished I had been able to! Texas A&M mauled the Baylor Bears 38-3 !  And as a result there is more good news. Christine Michael was able to set a new school record with a 97 yard run which is the longest play from scrimmage in the history of Texas A and M. Also the Aggies are now eligible for a bowl game. Let's Hope!
The Aggies will now face #3 Texas at Kyle Field in College Station on Thanksgiving Day. Wish the Aggies plenty of luck!  Do you … (6 comments)

college station texas: Our Annual Designated Broker Meeting - 10/29/09 02:10 PM
Today the Bryan-College Station Regional Association MLS Service held its annual meeting. As part of the by laws,  this annual meeting of Designated Brokers has to be called, and the new slate of officers elected plus the business for the last year and the new budget for the new year, must be approved. This may have been the smoothest meeting I have ever been to in several decades and is really a testament to the good job that the president Joy Caldwell, and her board did over the last year. My thumbs go up to them!
As a former president I personally know that the … (7 comments)

college station texas: Friday Fencing Foto - 09/11/09 02:08 PM
Located on the  Wellborn Hwy on the west side of College Station , Texas.... just off Rock Prairie RD.,  this  fence design is a fairly new design in our area for pre cast fencing. I really like the theme on this fence as it certainly is appropriate for a Texas fence!  Only a short drive south of Texas A and M University, it is sure to be a nice sight for all the visitors coming to  Aggie football games and to visit the Bush Library.

college station texas: What You Need To Know About Buying A Home In College Station Texas. - 07/28/09 03:45 PM
There are some really good buys in the  Bryan and College-Station, Texas  area right now !
As the summer draws to a close some sellers become a little anxious . Who can blame them?  A huge number of the sales closed on single family and investment properties in this area are purchased by families providing housing for their children attending both Blinn College in Bryan and Texas A and M University  in College Station. Many of these sales are closed before the end of August and typical residential contract transactions can take between 2 1/2 and 4 weeks to close. So naturally many of the … (5 comments)

college station texas: Realtors Involved in Government - 04/07/09 04:53 PM
Our local Association of Realtors Governmental affairs committee had a " Meet The Candidates" event tonight at a local hotel in College Station. Two city council positions are open. The format was simple enough with a local Realtor acting as the moderator asking each candidate some very simple but pointed questions. The issues in those questions were focused on city growth and development, and property rights.  There are two incumbents and several opponents at this time.
College Station is currently going through a great deal of growing pains and the local Realtors realize how important this upcoming election is going to be in dealing … (9 comments)

college station texas: Coffee With The Mayor Of College Station - 02/28/09 03:46 AM
Yesterday was a quarterly event put on by the mayor's office in College Station...known as "Coffee With The Mayor."  This event is a short forum in which the mayor and his staff inform developers, Realtors, builders and the public about the general state of affairs in College Station. All those present are invited to participate and ask questions. Sometimes the exchange gets a little "lively" but continues to appear to  be in a civil manner.
This week questions were brought up about the new 2009 International Building Code, the pending "tree ordinance," and the increased hotel -motel tax.  That issue particularly has … (3 comments)

college station texas: Watch The Aggies In Baseball This Year! - 02/05/09 07:51 AM
As we are just about ready to start baseball season at Texas A and M University, we had the  real privilege of having coach Rob Childress address the Aggieland  Rotary Club today.
As we know he led the  Men's Aggie teams to two Big 12 Championships in a row in 07' and 08.  Prior to coming to A and M,  Childress cached at Nebraska. Those teams made it to the NCAA tournament 5 times!
I was particulary impressed today with the coach's attitude about winning and losing in College Sports.  Losing is not a word he seems too fond of. He is a great motivator and … (5 comments)

college station texas: Achieving Game Management Goals - 01/06/09 03:00 PM
Managing a wildlife ranch in Texas can be hard work. Until you actually implement a game management plan, you just never really realize how much effort it really does take. In our area of Texas buck deer have been below average in body  size and antler siize ever since I can remember. But we are finally beginning to see the positive effects of a good written management plan. This year according to the deer survey we conducted on our small ranch, we were required to harvest so many does. I was really worried as the season neared thebclosing date of January 4th and we … (0 comments)

The nationally  #3 ranked Lady Aggies had a heartbreaker against Florida State this week losing 60-53.  Aggie star Tanisha Smith had a career high 17 points in the game.  Lady Aggie Basketball is really doing well at A … (5 comments)
