It’s harvest season again, which means it’s time for Bucks County to celebrate the annual Market Day in Newtown. Go back in time to see talented craftspeople spinning yard, quilting, candle dipping, rug braiding and woodcarving. There will be the usual fun for the kids, Colonial era music, old-style cooking and horse-drawn hayrides. Don’t forget to come hungry and enjoy the Festival of the Foods. Proceeds from Market Day benefit the Newtown Historic Association.

While Yardley, Newtown and Bucks County as a whole have not seen a drastic increase in home prices this year (see my recent Sept 4 Market Update), Inman News has reported that national rising home prices have brought 1.3 million homeowners out from underwater. This is a good sign for the national real estate market, and for Bucks County real estate as well.

Bucks County homeowners, the typical credit score may not be as much of a deciding factor in obtaining a mortgage loan anymore. This month FICO, the consumer credit analytics company, announced a new mortgage credit score that is said to be more predictive of mortgage loan behavior, and fairer to people with less information in typical credit reports. Lenders hope that it will give them a larger pool of people to be able to qualify for loans.
