brea: What happens when Brea's Olinda Ranch Burns? - 11/18/08 10:17 AM
November 18, 2008

On Saturday November 15, 2008 our very own Olinda Ranch fell victim to one of the all too familiar November wild fires.  As we spent Saturday helping friends and families gather their most praised possessions and evacuate their homes, I could not help but think about the irony that was playing out right before my eyes.  I had the opportunity to help many of these individuals purchase these very homes that we were now helping them evacuate.  There was a very real possibility that we would return to the neighborhood that we have loved and worked in for so … (1 comments)

The City of Brea anounced this week that the Plunge (A wonderful community pool of of Brea Blvd) has completed a $1.2 million rehibilitation and is now open again.  This could not come at a better time since the tempurature has been climbing each week that we get closer to summer.  As a Brea community member, I would like to say thank you to the City of Brea for making this wonderful project a priority for our community.  Brea continues to be a wonderful place to live, work, shop, and dine.

brea: Selling a Home in Brea, Fullerton, Yorba Linda or Anaheim Hills? The numbers don't lie. - 05/12/08 08:07 AM

Since moving to Prudential CA Realty, Mindy and I have enjoyed the opportunity to see what an amazing positive affect working with the Top North Orange County Real Estate office could have on our lives.  We are now able to offer the most amazing services to our clients on both the buying and selling sides of a transaction.  I never even knew that these services existed.  Now that I see why Prudential's systems are working day in and day out for our clients in even the most difficult of markets, and I am a true believer.  The numbers above were just statistics that I never paid attention … (0 comments)

brea: Well we finally did it... We too moved to Prudential CA Realty - 03/02/08 12:54 PM
Mindy and I just wanted to do a quick shout out to the AR members to say that we are excited to join the Prudential CA Realty family.  As of Feb 15, 2008 after 8 wonderful years with our previous firm, we have decided to join the top real estate company in North Orange County to better serve our clients.  It was an emotional decision, but even after just a few short weeks with our new firm we have sold numerous listings that had been lingering on the market.  They say that change is good.... and I now know that we believe that … (5 comments)

brea: Are you REALLY the neighborhood specialist? Do you really KNOW your marketplace? - 01/18/08 05:29 AM

I am sure I am not alone in this one so feel free to chime in.  Don't you feel that in order to call yourself a "Neighborhood Specialist" you should in fact know more than the average person about that neighborhood?  If you have a sign rider that says "Area Expert", than you should know home much the tax base is in that area, what the schools are, how the other available homes compare to your listing etc?  I am tired of self appointed "Neighborhood Specialist."  One could argue that you may not have needed to necessarily sell a home in a … (6 comments)

brea: With this blog I take over 2nd place in Brea. Look out Lynda only 112,303 more. - 01/17/08 05:46 PM
I joined AR about 4 months ago and already love the community I have met on this site.  From the moment I signed up, I knew this was going to be something I would enjoy being a part of, and I am excited to have my first small milestone.  I know it is only a matter of time until someone passes me up in the 2nd place featured agent position, but I will enjoy my time at the top of the page for as long as it lasts.  Thank you AR for giving me a place to speak my mind, and for … (7 comments)

brea: DON'T MISS YOUR GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY... This is my rant. - 01/05/08 03:41 PM
Everyone is aloud their right to rant in my opinion.... so this will work for mine today.
If you need to sell right now, you may not think it the most opportune time.  Perhaps it isn't when compared to 2005.  However, the equity adjustment you will make is still proportionately less than the appreciation you received during the last 10 years.  But if you are thinking of buying, what are you waiting for?  T
his is the buyer's part of the cycle.  People are not properly defining this part of the real estate cycle.  It's called the "down" cycle, or the "bust" cycle, and … (2 comments)

brea: Olinda Ranch Holiday Party and Decoration Contest was a blast once again! - 12/29/07 04:49 PM
Last Thursday, Mindy & I hosted our 4th Annual Holiday Light Decorating Contest in the Olinda Ranch community in Brea. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful evening complete with: hot chocolate, scrumptious holiday treats, fun Christmas Carols (sung by our dear friend Z-Love), the Brea Trolley, beautifully decorated homes competeing for the covited prize of Best Holiday Decor & of course, Santa Claus.
Apparently babies & some young kids do not really care for the jolly fellow.

With Mommy & Daddy by her side, she warmed up to Santa just long enough to take a quick family photo.
We hope you all had … (2 comments)

brea: Tonight Mindy and I were on Family Feud... and YES T.V. does add 20lbs. - 12/27/07 04:11 PM

About two months ago my Family had the opportunity to go on Family Feud.  I know what you are thinking... Is Family Feud still on TV?  Yes it is, and no the guy from Home Improvement is no longer the host.  The new host of FF is John O'Hurley from Seinfeld or better known from that reality show that takes unemployed people and teaches them a skill that may someday come in handy at a wedding or dinner party... You know it as Dancing With The Stars.
BUT tonight it was about us.  The Mills Family ruled prime time TV.  Well not completely, but we did … (14 comments)

brea: What Business Week says about the mortgage bailout - 12/17/07 03:53 PM
Last week, BusinessWeek Online came out with what I felt was a very good article on the mortgage bailout.  I could have done without the political comments at the end, but I thought this was interesting enough to post here on AR.  I was happy to learn a little more about who was going to be eligible for this plan and I am sure if nothing else, that info may help out some of you.  I found 10+ people in Olinda Ranch (my farm) alone, that are eligible.  Be sure to check out yours.

brea: Christmas time at the Orange Circle or Orange Plaza if you prefer. - 12/04/07 04:26 PM
Christmas time at the Orange Circle is truly a magical time of year.  Living in Orange County CA one can only dream of what it is like to live in a small town, and the Orange Circle www.CityofOrange.org is the closest thing I have found.

To those of you who have not heard of this wonderful part of Southern California history.
The Orange Plaza has been seen in numorous major motion pictures over the years.  My faverate was "That Thing You Do"featuring Tom Hanks.  From the old fassion drug store Watsons to the beautiful eairly 1900s arcitecture, the Orange Circle makes a … (8 comments)

brea: Olinda Ranch Brea CA 2007 Real Estate Review - 11/26/07 07:37 AM
How did your home price fare the changing market?
You have heard about it on the radio.  You have read about it in the paper.  You have seen reports about it on the evening news.  The real estate market is on a downward turn in most of the US, and Olinda Ranch is not an exception to that fact.  I am sure this is not new news to anyone, but what are the actual numbers for our neighborhood specifically?
Homes SOLD during 2007 in Olinda Ranch:  35

brea: Brea's Olnda Ranch has a registered sex offender living there...what do we do? - 11/12/07 11:12 AM
So today I was passing out my food drive bags to my farm (Olinda Ranch in Brea, CA) and I noticed someone had posted a flyer on the gang mail boxes.  My first thought was.... oh great another cat or dog eaten by a coyote, but to my surprise this was not the contents of this flyer.  This flyer said..."Registered Sex Offender Living in Our Neighborhood!"  It went on to give this man's first middle and last name, hair and eye color, height, weight, and exact address.  Then it ended with something like... "keep your Children safe and keep this … (2 comments)

brea: BPO.... Friend or Foe? - 11/09/07 06:25 AM
I have recently been asked to handle an increasing number of BPOs (as I am sure most of you have) for a few different banks that I work for on a regular basis, and this has got me thinking.  I would like to hear from anyone out there doing these on a few things...
1. Where you stand on doing the increasing amount of BPO work out there?
2. What do feel is a fair amount for a Bank pay you for your services of creating a BPO?
3. When proposing your property list price at the completion of your BPO, do you put a price that … (6 comments)

brea: Feeding the Needy- Brea's Olinda Ranch Annual Food Drive 2007 - 11/07/07 08:19 AM

To spread good cheer and give back to our community this holiday season, we are collecting canned goods and/or non-perishable food items in our third annual Olinda Ranch Holiday Food Drive!
We ask that residents please use the paper bags we drop off at their home to make any donations.  Bags are picked up on Saturday November 17th.  All items collected will be donated to the Women's Transitional Living Center of Orange County. Helping abused women and their children.
The last two years we were overwhelmed & overjoyed by the generosity of our neighborhood.  Together we were able to refill their empty pantry.  … (0 comments)

brea: Brea CA New Build Real Estate looks for ways to go Green. - 11/06/07 05:02 AM
Recently there have been some "Live/Work in Lofts"built in Brea CA called, creativly enough, "The Brea Lofts."  (I hope someone what not paid to come up with that catchy name.)  While the name leaves something to be desired, I felt that what the builder was doing to entice a buyer to purchase one of their over $700,000 new properties was to offer each homeowner a brand new electric vehicle (NEV) with their purchase.  They have gone so far as to build in a 2 car garage with separate NEV parking complete with hookups.
Not until receintly would I have given this a second thought, but I have just purchased a … (0 comments)
