Anatomy of a Real Estate Sale Over One Million Dollars
In the areas served by our area Multiple Listing Service, sales over a million dollars are relatively few, particularly when compared to markets like San Diego, Manhattan (NYC), Boston or San Francisco.
Our closed sale on Madeline Island last week inspired me to do a search of recent sales in excess of $1 Million. That residential listing appeared on RMLS (NorthstarMLS) in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

My journey through ActiveRain has spanned four years, with profiles in two states (Minnesota & Wisconsin). And in that time, I've managed somehow to accumulate a total of almost 425,000 points. Here's a unique and unusual Holiday Event..
The Wayzata Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the first annual Young Professionals Ugly Sweater Restaurant Crawl on December 2nd, from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
The crawl starts at the Wayzata Muni (Municipal Pub and Restaurant) and then moves to Sunsets on Wayzata Bay, winding up at Northcoast. And after a few cocktails at each locale, one must wonder if anyone will even be able to determine whose sweater is ugliest. With three or four martinis under one's belt, most ugly sweaters would probably look pretty good to the average person!

I just took a peek at my statistics for my two blogs on ActiveRain. It's funny that I didn't notice the landmark, but I just passed the 500 post mark.
I've put up 278 ActiveRain posts on my Madeline Island Real Estate Blog in Wisconsin to date. And I've also posted 228 times on my Lake Minnetoka and Twin Cities Luxury Real Estate Blog.

Browsing through the 2008 edition of "Who's Who in Luxury Real Estate", I found my way to the portion of the book that lists individual cities and towns represented in the book. The directory provides an insight into some of the best-known luxury home areas in each state. The directory also lists luxury locales in foreign countries, including the Canadian provinces.
"Who's Who in Luxury Real Estate" is published by John Brian Losh, creator of the enormously-popular LuxuryRealEstate.com website. This nearly 800-page member directory is a must-read for anyone in real estate who wishes to familiarize themselves with real estate firms that specialize in the luxury home market.

The Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR) reports the top ten per cent bracket among closed home sales in the Twin Cities metro area for the last six months to be $450,000 and up. In other words, a closed sale in excess of $450,000 ranks among the top ten per cent of residential closed sales in our market for the past six months.
The closed sales statistics were compiled for the period between April 1, 2007 and September 30, 2007. The $450,000 top-bracket figure compares with a figure of $490,000 for the previous six months ending March 31, 2007.
